How to Blow an Egg

Along with your traditional hard boiled eggs for Easter, try this technique which will allow you to display your decorated eggs longer.

Hard cooked eggs need to be kept refridgerated.  Using this technique allows you to display your decorated eggs in a basket on your table, or you can glue a piece of yarn to the top and hang them outside for Easter.

How to Blow the Eggs

Wash eggs well and dry with paper towel.  Poke a small hole on both ends of egg. I use a darning needle and try to go in far enough to break the yoke.  This makes the insides come out easier.  Hold egg over a bowl and blow until the egg is empty.  Rinse and dry with paper towel.  Now your eggs are ready for coloring.

Colored Eggs Using Food Dye

In coffee cup, mix about 20 drops of food coloring with 1 Tablespoon cider vinegar.  Add 1/2 cup lukewarm water.  Submerge egg until desired shade is obtained.  Lift out with spoon and carefully pat dry with paper towel.

Now all that is left to do is make a batch of scrambled eggs for breakfast!

Good directions. I’d like to add if you make the exit hole just a little bit larger than the one you blow into the job is easier. If you want to keep the colored shells till next spring, rinse out the insides by holding the empty shell under running water and letting the water sluice through it.

this is a good way to keep your eggs. In the old days we would suck the insides out.U guess thats not good any more.Your way is better.
