How to Have an Eco-friendly Christmas
Gift-giving is a tradition during Christmas. But sadly, some of the gifts that we purchase for our love ones are not safe to the environment.

Christmas is definitely here, for those of you who are still rushing to buy gifts; you might want to consider the following Eco-friendly suggestions:
- Buy gifts that do not require gift wrappers like fruits, gift checks, movie tickets, and so on. If in-case you bought a gift that requires wrapping, use old magazines or newspapers to wrap them.

- Make your own gifts. Instead of buying plastic toys or non-biodegradable photo frames, why not prepare your specialty dish or bake some cookies for your friends and relatives. Other suggested gifts are flowers from your garden, ornamental plants from your own backyard or a CD music compilation. Fruits and vegetables can also be an Eco-friendly gift suggestion.

- If you intend to buy some gifts, choose eco-friendly products or products that do not emit toxic wastes or those that were made from child or abusive labor practices. If you will buy toys for your children, avoid buying stuffs that promote violence. Instead, choose toys that promote a culture of creativity, harmony, and peace.

- Buy gifts that were made of recycled materials or products that promotes recycling and care for the environment. It is best that you patronized natural or hand-made native products. Not only they are bio-degradable, minimum amount of fossil fuel were used in the manufacture of these items.

- Donate old toys, books, and even unused gifts to charitable institutions. Some would probably say that you are just passing the trash to another entity, but this is a better option than disposing them through incinerators or just throwing them without other people benefiting from it. Some items may be trash to you, but some are valuable to others. Just remember, the best way to avoid accumulating too much trash is to buy items that you really need.

- And finally, instead of hard paper Christmas cards go for e-cards. Most e-cards are free and you can customize the design and content of the message. Also, there is no need spend money on paper envelops and stamps.

Good advise, I never throw anything away that can be used, and I buy only useful things for gifts. I don’t see any reason for waste.
