How to Save Money at Easter
All you needed to know about saving money at Easter.
Easter is a time of year that everyone loves from the smallest of kids to the oldest of adults. It is a time where chocolate is eaten in vast quantities and usually, people spend an extraordinary amount of cash on something that is quite frankly, going to last a few minutes! The price of Easter eggs seems to go up every year and right now when everyone is trying to tighten their wallets, it makes sense to try and save money at Easter.
One of the big things that kids loving doing at this time of year is to go on an Easter egg hunt which an amount to a lot of eggs needed and therefore, lots of pennies! However, why not make a change from the norm and have a different type of game. Have an Easter egg hunt but with just one chocolate egg at the end. You can buy normal chickens eggs for very little, hard boil these and then paint them with the clues for the next egg painted on them? You can always buy bags of mini eggs and have these with the painted egg but only buy one large Easter egg for the end of the hunt so that one lucky child can enjoy it. Of course, you can always make them share it out, a great lesson for kids or even buy some of the crème eggs and other types of small eggs to give to the other children that do not manage to find the big egg as a consolation prize.
As for children giving eggs to their friends, why not concentrate on the hard boiled eggs once more? You can have hours of fun with your children boiling the eggs and then painting them, even putting the individual child’s names on them for a more personal appeal. The children can give these to their friends as a keepsake gift rather than a chocolate egg which will be devoured in no time at all!
When it comes to buying eggs for family and friends for the adults, why not have a “secret Santa” type game for the workplace and pick names out of a hat? In this, you only have to buy one egg and everyone still gets one.
Very often, stores will do special offers on eggs to get more people to buy them such as buy one get one free and get three for two and suchlike. It is best to make the most of these even if you only plan on giving one egg away as you never know when you may need a spare. You can always take a look on the sell by date and if it will last long enough, keep it for the next year!
There are plenty of ways in which you can save money at Easter and one of the last things that I will point out is that you do not actually have to buy eggs. Even small gifts such as make up kits with a small egg attached will do for little girls and you can buy toys for kids very cheaply in discounted stores.
