How Will You Spend Your St. Valentines Day?

Making a regular grocery shopping procedure, I suddenly noticed that the store is full of St Valentines stuff again, so that people may feel free to please themselves and their beloved ones with all sorts of animals, candies and the sweetest pink paper-based congratulations.

There are three categories of people considering their attitude towards The Pink Hearts Holiday. Well, I believe there are more if details are taken into attention as well. But anyway, the first ones are absolutely crazy about it and form the main profit for manufactures of bears, bunnies, anything pink, red or heart-shaped during this period of time. They give presents to their lovers, spouses, friends and family. It’s ok that the holiday was originally formed as a Celebration Of Love Between The Two. Go ahead and spread The Love everywhere.

The second category doesn’t care much but has to comply with the rules of this game in order not to hurt their second half. For instance a guy just have to get something for St Valentines to his beloved girlfriend because her friends are definitely getting something from their boyfriends. Don’t you love me sweetie?

The third category consists of people who don’t celebrate it for various reasons, just like me and my boyfriend who doesn’t care about any holidays but has a bunch of self-made ones, like The Orange Kangaroo Appraisal or Crooked Chair Survival, as well as Idiot Outfit Festival.

The category which stands separately is desperate singles hoping to catch attention of their crushes. No offense to high school kids.

The point is however different. Behind a regular procedure of taking your better half out for dinner, romantic candles and heart-shapes cute little things become more of a routine rather then Celebration. They’ve made it commercial, themed and boring. To me it just looks pathetic how it all lost original perfect sense of this holiday.
Ladies are getting sexy lingerie to impress their men, men give their ladies diamonds and take out for dinner – its all so planned out now! Where did your passion go, people? Of course there are still adventurous enthusiasts who do crazy thing together but it’s such a minor.

So the ideas to shaken it up a little are:

- Stay in your pijamas, eating unhealthy food in bed with no make up on with your half and watch a silly movie;
- Wander the streets, watching the moonlight, having a bottle of wine in a public place;
- Try to remember all the small details of the day when you first got together and replay it on this day (don’t forget about the same clothes as well!)

Make every day your St Valentines! Kiss your beloved ones always like for the first and the last time, play no games! Be silly after 30 years spent together, be special for each other always. Why wait for holidays to make sweet surprise for your special someone. Moreover, there is no need to wait the whole year to say the magic “I Love You”.
