Ideas for Earth Day and Everyday

Earth day is celebrated around the world, and we should do what we can to reserve it for the next generations.

Earth day is upon us once again! With many things we can do to take part in helping our earth, what is your plan to do? Here is how we will spend our day:

  • Picking up all the trashes around our property
  • Fish out all plastic pieces on trees and bushes
  • Collect all cigarette butts by the curve side
  • Recycle newspaper collection by donating them to churches
  • Return bottles, cans, and glass bottles to market
  • Make a compose pile for garden
  • Plan a small tree/bush
  • Put in an hour to beautify our city by helping with flower planning
  • Donate old glasses, books, electronic gadgets to library, or non-profit organization
  • Take unused clothes and shoes to thrift stores

Suggestion Ideas

·         Buy organic produce from a local farm, which have less pesticide, and do not require transportation; thus cutting down on pollution.

·         Take the bus to save gas, and cut down on air pollution

·         Swap old clothes with friends

·         Reduce plastic bottles waste by buying a water filter to purify your drinking water

·         Conserve water by turning off the faucet when brushing your teeth

·         Replace top loader washer with front load washer since it consumes less water.

·         Hang your clothes outside to dry

·         Grow your own vegetables

·         Carry reusable bags on shopping trips

·         Unplug all electric appliances when they are not in use

·         Reduce junk mail by go to catalogchoice.org and ask to be removed from their lists

However little we can do, we should do it, not only on earth day, but also on everyday!  The earth is in a fragile stage, and we need to take action.  The future generations depend on us to take care of it now.

We already do all those things except picking bits of plastic out of bushes, but I think that the more these thing are publicised the more people will do their bit. So good on you.

Our Earth is very sick now. The idea is not only to raise the environmental awareness on Earth’s day, but the awareness should be raised for everyday’s life. Great job, sister!

Interesting! We don’t have an Earth Day here and I think we should. ‘Celebrate Earth Day Every Day’ is a song by John Denver. I love it. Have you heard it? I have only just realised what it is about.

Great list of tips! Many of today’s electrical appliances and electronics are drawing power even when they are turned off. Unplugging them is a good idea and should especially be kept in mind when we are away from home for any length of time.

Most of your tips are so easy to follow and very useful. Like taking the bus to save gas, or maybe you could car pool. Reusing water is a good idea – I keep a pot in the sink when washing fruits and veggies and then use that water to water the plants at home. I think little steps like can really add upto big results.

Smart tips. I would like to add to Rookie’s idea, if you keep the tap closed while you brush, such a small act can also save a lot of water. Little steps like these can help save the earth for the future generations. Thanx BC for reminding all of us.
