Is April Only for Fools

April is called the month of fools. There are many traditional pank-playing on the first day of this month. Indian General Elections may seem to one of such prank-playing. It begins in April this year.

The first day of April is called ‘All Fools Day’. there has been a tradition of prank-playing on the first day of April almost all over the world.  Though it was started in England and France, slowly it came to be called as ‘April Fool’s Day’ and  thus developed into an international fun fest with different nationalities, specializing in their own brand of humor at the expense of their friends and families.

April Fools Day Memoirs

April Fool Day had given me a lot of bitter experiences. From my school years I have been somehow or other cheated by my friends and others. Though I had been careful to the maximum I had always fallen prey to the snares of these treachery-mongers. I have seen children in schools waiting for this day with ink pots to sprinkle ink or stamp ‘April Fool’ marks on others. With unexpected errands people are easily deceived on this day.

A National April Fools Day

Is this month of April for mere prank playing? When general election was announced by the Indian Government to be conducted in April this year, I felt as if the whole nation is going to become the victim of April Fooling. It has become another mockery of democracy. People are easily victimized by false promises. I wonder why these elections come usually in April at all. Does it mean that it is going to be another hide and seek game. The leaders and the ‘high people’ who wait at the gates of even beggars joining both their hands in salutation can never be seen after they win the election. Really these election scenes of fooling should enable us to extend some feelings of humor at the same time pitying ourselves how easily we are fooled.

Acting like Fools, they Fool the Country

The candidates, who with their false smiles and salutations act like fools at every gate, begin to swindle the wealth of the nation, filling their pockets to facilitate generations leaving behind their voters in tears. The country becomes more and more poor just because of these selfish politicians. Again and again these people are fooled. Still they are unable to understand the tricks of their leaders. The poor and the downtrodden can easily be bought for a mug of toddy or a few rupees. Caste is another fooling agent of this election fest blind-folding the eyes of the Indian mass. The leaders know the weak strings of the national nerves, which they can easily play to fool the nation. Another fooling of this election fest is inactivating the learned and the middle-class people either frightening them or mishandling their votes. India is too democratic to check all these malpractices.

We are Getting Ready for another April Fools Day

April is coming fast. Election campaigns are at the full swing. All the parties are trying their best to fool the people and snatch the mightiest weapon in their hands. With all knowledge we, the Indians, are getting ready to be fooled in this April, the month of fools!
