Japanese People Eat KFC for Christmas
Eating KFC’s chicken during the Christmas season, a strange tradition.
Japan has surprised us all with some weird stuff, seriously. Did you know, that in Japan eating KFC’s chicken is a traditional thing done, every year by many many many Japanese families. Some people even reserve their chicken weeks in advance for Christmas. They eat the chicken with cake called,”Christmas Cake” which is strange since, people don’t usually eat cake for Christmas.
Many Japanese people do this for two reasons,”Jesus’s Birthday” and “Santa’s Birthday”. Yeah, a lot of Japanese people believe that Christmas is to celebrate, Santa Clause’s Birthday. It’s pretty strange, but with cultural barriers and stuff, it’s not out of the ordinary but hey, who are we to ruin their fun. This whole KFC thing is believed to have started quite a while back, with Christmas being important and growing and getting bigger and bigger in Japan. KFC started airing ads and promos like crazy and the idea caught fire quickly.

If you see the Colonel, dressed up holding a barrel of Chicken in Japan, at least you’ll know. Merry Christmas by the way and a happy new year. So, if you ever want to have a Japanese meal for Christmas, you got a good idea. KFC usually has it’s highest sales during the Christmas season. KFC’s chicken is king during Christmas in Japan during the holiday.
