Living in This Society
I feel like the way people are living, is not living at all. It’s work and sleep. It’s high society. It’s a dream without a cause.
Every single day I look around me. I constantly see people doing things that they don’t want to do. Society tells you that you’ve got to be the prettiest and wittiest to get anywhere. You need to make the most money. You need to drive the best car. You need to be a doctor or a lawyer. You need to dress nice. You need to put on a fake smile.
Why do people work so hard to achieve? In the end we all die. You are more than likely not going to be recorded in the history books for making a good salary and having the nicest house on the block.
People have forgotten what it’s like to be simple. I am concerned about me being happy. I cannot begin to succeed in all of the world’s greater things so I take pleasure in what I can.
I was visiting my grandparents’ grave today. I looked up at the sky. I saw these really bright clouds and just thought, we don’t get much time. We should enjoy it. We should stop engulfing ourselves in all this and just live.
If smelling fresh cut grass and hearing my kids giggle is all I ever get to do, I think I’ll be okay with it. I’d rather have a few precious moments, rather than a life full of pointless work. Your kids don’t remember what they got for their 6th birthday. They remember who played with them on it.
