Start With the Basics
Right now is all about taking basic pieces and accessorizing to create an individual look of your own that cannot be duplicated. I mean, who wants to show up to a New Year’s Eve party and see someone else wearing the exact same thing as them? This season is the season for boots, skinny jeans, tights, leggings, and jackets, so browse below to get the perfect ideas for your outfit!
Wearing a Dress
There’s always the classic option of wearing a dress on New Year’s Eve. If you show up in a dress and shoes, it is going to look boring. You need to spice it up! My pick for this year would be a little black dress, black tights/nylons, and some tall black boots. Add gold jewelry, dangle earrings or a few long necklaces, and a gold clutch and you will look astonishing! You may even want to tie a small gold belt loosely around your hips for an even more high-fashion look. If you are going for the classic but edgy look, I would suggest black leather slouch boots with a fitted black leather jacket over your dress; watch out boys!
Wearing Jeans
It is perfectly acceptable to wear denim on New Year’s Eve, remember it is winter! My advice for denim is that if you’re going to wear jeans and look classy, make sure they are dark denim and do not have a wide flair. Dark denim will make you appear thinner and the tighter leg of the jeans will look dressier and fit in to your boots better. This season is all about trendy boots! If you’re going to wear black boots, wear a solid color shirt (red, white, or grey), with a black jacket over it. If you’re going to wear brown or a colored boot, I would suggest not wearing a top that is the exact same color as the boot. Throwing a fitted jacket or blazer over any of these looks will dress the outfit up and create a more fashionable appearance. Don’t be afraid to mix and match! Carry a clutch that either matches with your boots or the color of your accessories. Wearing multiple longer necklaces and big rings will make you look like you’ve just stepped out of a magazine.
