Making The Holidays More Enjoyable, Without Making Them More Expensive
The holiday season can be a difficult time of year, especially with the tough times we’re going through with the economy, so in this article, I’ll tell you how to keep the holidays affordable, while still enjoying the time you have with your family and friends.
Holidays can be very expensive, but they don’t always have to be. Remember, it’s a time to enjoy your family and friends, so don’t get too caught up in all the gifts. Give people things that you can either make or buy inexpensively, that they will like, and have a use for.
For example, you could make oven mits. If you know how to crochet, all you need is the needles and yarn, which isn’t very expensive, and can be used to make other peoples’ gifts’ too. You could make a blanket, or a hat, that would get used in the winter, and would be much appreciated by someone who can’t afford to go out and buy a new coat or hat.
Also, if someone wants a large number of gifts, like they make a huge list and say they want everything on it, ask them to pick a few few of the things they want the most, and maybe they could get those.
Be clear with them if money is tight. Let them know that they you can’t get them everything they want this year, but still let them know that this year will be as much fun as it ever has been. Play board games with them, watch movies with them, and just spend some time with them, and get to know them better, If you have kids, they’re not going to stay little forever, so have fun with them, and try to set a good example.
Finally, don’t worry about the holidays. Enjoy yourself, and also, if you have to buy something, look for sales, because the savings add up, and every cent is another cent you don’t have to spend. So to sum it all up, have fun with the holidays, and do what fits your budget. That’s all you can do, so make the best of it, and do what you can with what’s available to you.
