February is considered as the month of love. No wonder really, considering that this monththere is the celebration of Valentine’s Day or Valentine’s day. However, should you and your partner do not celebrate it.

The scientists warn each spouse not to the form of affection, like kissing during aValentine celebration will fall on 14 February. This is due this month is the peak season forinfectious diseases.

“Mid-February is usually the peak season for infectious diseases, like swine flu (H1N1),colds and flu and mononucleosis,” said Jorge Parada, medical director of infectiousdiseases from Loyola University Health System that was launched by indianexpress,Friday (3/2).

Changes in weather and temperature are often blamed for the onset of seasonal coughsand colds. But in reality, runny nose, cough and flu is a contagious disease that is spreadthrough transfer of virus from one person to another.

“The temperature is too hot or too cold can cause stress to the body, weakened defensesagainst infections and this is what makes us more vulnerable,” he added.

Parada add not just kissing can spread the flu virus. Valentine’s Day is alwayssynonymous with romance, so many couples who choose to share a drink from the same glass or eat from a fork and spoon, which has been unwittingly transfer the virus.

“Humans can transmit some viruses through saliva. Fork, spoon, cup or a napkin may actas a bridge,” said Parada.

Parada suggested that each partner to protect herself and loved ones to stop the spread of the virus to others.
