Mother’s Day with Hallmark.com Never Again!

I had a very bad experience with Hallmark.com this Mother’s Day.

Brace yourself because I am more than pissed off right now while writing this.

Hallmark is best known for greeting cards. Their products include paper party supplies, gifts, wrapping paper, ornaments, e-cards and customized photo cards. Hallmark.com is Hallmark’s website and I am extremely unhappy with them right now.

It is Saturday May 9th the day before Mother’s Day and I am sitting here without the personalized Mother’s Day photo card that I ordered from Hallmark.com for my son to give to his Nanny (my Mom). It was going to be a really precious card with his picture on it and I even had him dictate what he wanted it to say (he’s 5). She would have loved it. The card was pretty the way I designed it but I can’t see the quality in person because it never made here in time.

The order was placed in plenty of time for it to be able to arrive before Mother’s Day there was a cutoff day which was May 1st. I ordered the card on April 29, 2009 and was emailed a confirmation email the same day that the order was placed that included my web order number. The following day I received a shipment confirmation email that stated my shipment went out on April 30, 2009 and that shipping would take 7 days at the most. That’s was fine with me. Everything sounded under control so I checked it off the list in my mind and went on with my life.

I started sweating it on Friday May 8th when the mail came and the card still hadn’t arrived. At this point there is really not much I could do because Mother’s Day is on Sunday so I had to just hope that it came in today’s (Saturday’s) mail. It did not come, yeah I’m freaking out. My Mom is big into cards, more-so cards than presents even. I can’t begin to tell you how much this situation irks me. I didn’t have to buy this Mother’s Day card online but I buy lots of things online and I never have problems. I had countless opportunities during the last couple of weeks to pick up a card locally. Unfortunately, I trusted Hallmark to provide this Mother’s Day card this year but they simply didn’t deliver.

I did write an email to Hallmark’s customer service but I just got the receipt confirmation email that states that they will get back in touch with me within 48 hours. Still, whatever they do is not gonna get the card here in time for Mother’s Day. I am very upset over this experience, enough to honestly say that I will go out of my way to never buy another Hallmark card as long as I live. I know it is just a card but that’s not the point. It was an online purchase that did not hold up their end of the bargain and for that reason I am writing this negative review.

You would not have that problem with Great Friends Greetings, where the cards are actually great personalized gifts. Perfect for birthdays, holidays, get well, congratulations, encouragement and good luck wishes.
