National Margarita Day
National Margarita Day.
Today on February 22, National Margarita Day is being celebrated all over America in honor of Margarita, the most popular cocktail drink in the country.
The major ingredients of a Margarita drink consist of Triple sec and lemon juice alongwith tequila being the primary ingredient. It is usually served with ice and salt. The lemon slice tagged to the goblet just adds to the ecstasy nature of the drink.
The margarita is usually prepared by rubbing the edges of the utensil with lime slice which makes the salt glued to it. The other elements are stirred with ice and then poured into the glass. With a bit of garnish it is served with ice cubes. Instead of the lime the Margarita can also be made by a mixture of fruits such as strawberries, cherries, raspberries, mango, orange etc.
The drink is named after its inventor Margarita Sames who created the drink by experimenting with a variety of fluids including Tequila and lime water in 1948. That afternoon, Margarita had a party at her place and to beat the heat of the day she decided to make the drink and serve it to her friends. The drink was very much liked by the gang and soon the drink become popular and became the No.1 selling drink in the U.S with an average consumption of 185,000 Margaritas per hour.
