New Years Eve Hangover Remedies

Simple remedies for the New Year’s hangover.

Ever wake up with a hangover that you swear was sent to you from Hades. Your head feels heavy as a bowling ball and your stomach is so twisted up from the combination of drinks that only “God” can remember what you had on New Years Eve. Your mouth is so dry and the more water you drink the drunker you feel without out any relief. Well here are a few old remedies that may help you recover.

1. “Water” After every alcoholic drink, consumes the same amount in water. Just regular H20 will do. It fills you up quicker and you may still feel a little out of it the next day but the hangover will not be as fierce.

2. “Alka-Seltzer” Yes, I said good old Alka-Seltzer according to a poll taken a few years back. The most over the counter medicine sold the next day after New Years Eve was Alka-Seltzer. Apparently it eases the pain in your head and relieves some of tension in your stomach.

3. “Menudo” The Mexican dish called Menudo, according to friends, family and Mexican folklore will cure what ails you when it comes to hangovers. It’s been a Mexican remedy for years. The combination of spicy ingredients found in this tasty soup-like dish is supposed to get you going again.

4. “Hair of the Dog” One of hardest remedies that people can stomach is drinking another beer or mixed drink the day after, unless your a “professional drinker” (I chose the words “professional drinker vs. alcoholic I don’t want to offend the wino’s and drunks that we all know and love, you know just trying to be “politically correct”). Well anyway this does work, and will basically get you back feeling the way you felt the night before but at a lesser level. If you can stop at one drink you’ll be alright, but if you keep going then it just defeats the purpose. You will be waking up the next day with another hangover.

5. “Responsibility” Finally, if you really don’t want to wake up feeling like you’ve been shredded up and then kicked to the curb just drink responsibly. Set some limits and don’t over do it. But, if can’t help it and you want to party like there’s no tomorrow think about renting a room at a nice hotel and get plastered there. At the hotel bar it’ll be like being at a bar with a bed near by. Hotels offer New Years Eve packages all the time.
