Nutrition and Fertility
Mediterranean diet does good sperm.
Recent studies have revealed a further plus point of theMediterranean diet: fresh fish, fruits and vegetables not only quality but also speed of male sperms increase. And Japanese scientistsagain found that moderate sports showed the same effect.
These results have recently reproductive scientist at Harvard University brought to light. Their studies were presented by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine in Orlando, Florida.
Fresh fish, fruits and vegetables not only quality but also Increasesspeed of male sperms!
Their studies were presented by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine in Orlando, Florida.
In one study a team led by Audrey Gaskins of Boston, the quality of sperm in 188 young men has been tested and compared with data on their daily diet. During these, the sperm checked their numbers in the ejaculate as well as the shape and motion characteristics. It was among the volunteers two types of eaters: Once those who eat with the more “western” style with lots of red meat, sausages, pizza, snacks, white flour, sugar and soda. The other time those who attended similar to the Mediterranean diet, plenty of fish, fruit, vegetables and whole grains themselves.
Relationship between diet and sperm quality
No matter what group it went well, neither in number nor in terms of their form showed differences in the sperm of the subjects. Only when there was motion abnormalities. Among men who ate unhealthy, the sperm were less agile. Still, that is crucial if “crack” a sperm to an egg. Since it was a relatively small study, however, are Gaskins is modest: “All we can say at this point is that there is a connection between nutrition and quality of sperm.”
Trans fats decrease sperm count
The second study dealt with the trans fats and whether they affect the quality of sperm with a total of 100 subjects. Men, the trans fat diet increased over puff pastry, chips or other industrially manufactured foods could have a significantly lower number of sperm in their ejaculate. ”We’re starting to get a better idea on how far the food effect on the fertility of men increases. Many of these processes, we understand, however, not yet,” study author Jorge Chavarro is quoted as saying. At least it seems clear that junk food is harmful to more things than previously thought.
Scientists at the University of Yamaguchi in the Japanese again showed that the motility of sperm is better for men who drove moderate exercise instead of competitive sports.
