Offerings to The Sea Float, Tradition Syawalan in Demak
Demak coastal community held a ritual offering larungan H +7 holiday.

Thousands of people Demak, Central Java, which held a ritual Syawalan melarung offerings to sea. Residents believe larungan offerings will bring blessings.
In addition to Eid, coastal residents in Moro, Demak, has a tradition of celebrating Syawalan. This tradition is routinely held seven days after Eid, for this year to coincide with today, Wednesday (07/09/2011). The event begins with a procession that escorted the nine people dressed in traditional Javanese as a symbol of Wali Songo.

Rice cone that is inserted in a miniature boat stretcher by four men as a symbol of the four pupil who studied the Sunan Kalijogo. Rice cones and various marine products were then taken to the boat floated into the middle of the ocean.
Various traditional arts also accompany the procession to the beach. Even thousands of residents who had crowded the waiting procession larungan coastal area since this morning.

Before the cone floated, an elder led the first prayer that the fishermen still blessed with abundant sustenance.
Rohmat Iskandar, a local village elder, said in addition to a form of thanksgiving, offering float event also aims to preserve the culture of the ancestors.
