Rabbit Antics for Spring Holiday Fun
Everybody knows that rabbits don’t bring Easter eggs for Easter, or the Spring Holiday, but we still tell our children that they do. This one of those traditions that have been handed down over the years. Rabbits may not bring chocolate eggs but they are still pretty amazing creatures.

‘I’m sure I heard something moving around over there.’
A rabbit can hear a carrot pushing its way through the earth from a hundred paces away. This particular rabbit is using its very sensitive ears to detect carrots which are about to burst through the surface of the ground on this beautiful spring day. Nature has equipped the rabbit with such long, sensitive ears and acute hearing for this very purpose. Fresh, young, newly sprouted carrots are far more nutritious for the rabbit than old toughened ones. So, the rabbit waits patiently for them to appear.

This forlorn looking lady rabbit, known as a doe, has been left waiting by her mate. Rabbits are extremely sensitive creatures and it is easy to see from the width of her pupils and the slight twist to the way she holds her ears, that she is fed up with the waiting. Rabbits are incredibly sensitive creatures and are often emotionally distressed in circumstances like this.

Rabbits were the first creatures on earth to realise that eating vegetables of different colours provided a number of different vitamins and minerals. They are an advanced species which has a natural awareness of the need for beta carotene found in orange carrots, and anti oxidants released by the purple ones. This rabbit family lunch illustrates the importance of different carrot varieties in the rabbit diet.

Triple packs of carrots are sometimes available and this makes catering for the larger rabbit family much easier. These triple packs are also easier to locate as they ease their way through the ground because they make much more noise. The wily rabbit takes full advantage of this.

This rabbit has just finished a long period of exile. Rabbits have very advanced societies and our friend above was found guilty of several crimes against the welfare of the community. As you can see by the prison stripes on his back, he has been made to wear a kind uniform to distinguish him from other rabbits and make him more noticeable socially. The penalties for minor transgressions are severe within the rabbit world.

This young rabbit was caught on camera as he hid in the long grass waiting for the farmer and his dog to leave the cabbage patch. The young chap’s intentions were far from honourable. A feast of freshly planted cabbage seedlings was proving too much of a temptation, until he was so engrossed in eating that he failed to notice the dog sniffing around. He was lucky to escape with his life but he is still waiting for another opportunity to steal some more. Some rabbits never learn!

how cute! I didn’t know rabbits were so intense with their hearing! No wonder they run when you’re 50 feet away from them
