Ransom Note

A true story about a murder of a six year old girl set upon the longest investigation ever recorded in history. The killers are never found.

At the forensic lab they show the piece of paper to the investigators and the ransom note to the forensic experts. When they compare the handwriting they match. One of the officers comes to the Ramsey’s house and shows Patsy the ransom note. The officer asks Patsy “whose handwriting was there in the ransom note?” Patsy says “I have no idea”. The officer shows her note and says “we found a match”. The officer takes Patsy to the investigation centre and asks her “did you write the note?” Patsy said “no I would not do that” the officer asks her “was your daughter’s bed wet?” Patsy said “yes” the officer asks “did she wet it?” Patsy says “I couldn’t be sure”. The officer asks her “does she wet the bed?” Patsy says “occasionally she would pee in the bed” the officer asks “did you abuse her on any of the occasion?” Patsy says “no I wouldn’t do that” the officer says “I recon you abused the child that night in a rage and then proceeded to kill her as a cover up” Patsy says “I didn’t do that”. The investigators call John Ramsey to the investigation. The investigator asks John “did you sexually abuse the girl?” John says “no I would never do that” the investigator says “the only way was for someone inside the house to kill the girl” John asks “how can you be so sure?” an officer says “if the girl was strangulated in the house and you were sleeping in the same house then you would have heard the noise and came to investigate” John says “we were on the third floor”. The officer says “Burke was in the first floor” John says “he was able to hear the voice of someone but was too scared to come and investigate”. The officer says “that would give us two choices: either we can convict Burke of the murder since our forensic experts found traces of Burke’s fingerprints on the pineapple bowl which was not placed there by you or Patsy but that would be an impossible hypothesis since Burke was on the first floor and to do that Burke would have to walk up and down the stairs at least three or four times the second possibility was for either you or Patsy walking down the stairs and committed the murder”. John says “someone entered the house and murdered our daughter”.
