Something to be Thankful for
Everyone has something to be thankful for. If you are breathing, even assisted breathing, you should be thankful!
Tis the season to be thankful, caring, kind, and considerate. We all know that Christmas is supposed to be the time for giving, and not receiving. Isn’t that the saying, “It’s better to give than to receive?” But people tend to forget that it isn’t just about the gifts, it is also about giving love and kindness. It’s about sharing your blessings with others, maybe even people you don’t know.
They have coats for kids, toys for tots, and donations to help the homeless. And these things are all very good, and people give were they can. But what about kind words and friendly smiles? Remember that the holidays are very hectic, and not everyone is in the Christmas spirit. So when you run into the misfortune of someones bad behavior don’t let it get to you. Shrug it off knowing that you have had bad days too, and everyone deserves to be treated fairly. I know lines at the stores are long, and sometimes the employees or the shoppers are grumpy, but just give a small smile and don’t get frustrated.
Moving on from that, I wanted to take some time to remind people that it is also the season to be thankful. It isn’t always easy to be thankful, especially if we are having a bad day or are in a not so friendly situation, but if you are breathing you need to be thankful. God has blessed us all with so much, and often times we take it for granted. We take for granted the things we have, like time with friends and family. Or our own good health. Even simple things like water, heat from the cold, or a soft spot to lay our heads down at night.
The Lord wasn’t brought into this world in a nice fancy hospital room like most of us, and I’m sure it wasn’t super warm, and He didn’t have much in this world, but He was always thankful for what He was given. We need to be more like Christ, it says we are made from the Lord’s own image, and that we are to be Christ like. And that is what this article is about, reminding us to be grateful for even the little things.Take a moment and say a prayer of thanks, tell your friends and family you care, kiss your children/parents, let someone know they make a difference. For the rest of this month, I would like for you all to do something, and I am going to do it as well. I would like for everyday for us to let someone know how special they are, do a kind deed, say something nice, be thankful, anything kind, caring, and or considerate. And at the end of the month let me know how it impacted your life and the life of others. Did it make you feel good, did you make someone who is usually a grump smile, whatever and however it impacted you, I would like to know, and I will post how it impacted me. So lets jump on the band wagon of kindness, and make the month of December one to remember!

I have been doing this challenge everyday so far, I find myself wanting to leave more than one message a day. I have been leaving comments on facebook to friends and family, and it makes me feel good to let people know they are special. How are you all doing so far? I’d love to hear from you!
