Spin and What We Simply Believe
It is amazing what we accept as truth and simply believe just because someone said it was so. Our brains are being fed on spin (not a very healthy diet) and this sort of thing is happening every day we live and breathe and we are falling for it like an April Fool. What do you really and truly believe and why do you believe it? We might each want to ask our self that question. Read more…
Isn’t it amazing, what we accept and simply believe to be so and yet much of what we believe most of us have never seen, we were not there, did not witness what was going on, was not part of the group doing the research or participating in any way in the event, never climbed the mountain, crossed the ocean, walked the desert sands, never ate it, smelled it, felt it, heard it, saw it, not for our self but we believe it it anyhow? We believe what the newspapers say. We believe what the newscasters tell us. We believe what the business advertisers tell us. We even believe the junk mail in our mailbox and the telemarketers that keep calling even when we say we aren‘t interested. We even allow our brain to be fed on pre-recorded messages and believe it. We believe the emails that get forwarded to us. We believe the neighbors’ gossip and tell it to someone else as truth. Some of us, even most of us, will believe most anything…it’s amazing. We also believe only what we choose to believe, want to believe and pass the rest off as fiction, myth, lies, just stories. Often times we believe something to be so, absolute truth, the fact of a matter, simply because our parents or grandparents or maybe our teachers said it was so and we don’t question it.
Sadly, some of the things we should believe and pay attention too we simply shrug and ignore and then there are things we should question and check out more thoroughly that we accept as fact and hold onto the those beliefs even though they may be leading us down a path that leads to destruction, because we believe. We will believe most anything if it is presented in a believable manner.
Part of the reason behind this is that we are kept too busy to think for our self (I believe that is intentional, a ploy to keep us ignorant, but that is my belief) and we as a people have become tired and apathetic and take too much for granted. We are too accepting in most areas and not accepting enough in other areas that effect our life and our future and the future of our children and grandchildren, the future of our nation and the planet we live on.
I am not saying we should all be Doubting Thomas’, believing is good but it can also be dangerous when we believe and don’t look beyond the surface, the spin, when we simply accept and never question, don‘t look at the whole picture. When we simply believe just because someone we think we should be able to trust said it we are setting our self up to be deceived. Our world is overflowing with deception and like Eve we believe.
What we believe is based on whom and what we trust, it is grounded on faith and that goes for both the secular and the religious communities of our society. You and I really need to get a grip and take a closer look at what it is we truly do believe, believe in our heart and in our mind, what we know to be truth and know why we know it and not accept as fact everything that is thrown at us by the news media, our politicians, our neighbor, our educators, doctors, scientist, special interest groups, big business or even the preacher in the pulpit. Our lives are spinning out of control, off course and out of orbit on spin, on what we are being fed and told we should believe. Would you believe it? It is happening every day we live and breathe and we are falling for it like an April Fool. What do you really and truly believe and why do you believe it? We might each want to ask our self that question.
