Star of Bethlehem: Rick Larson’s Interesting Journey

A Christmas commentary of the DVD. (If you found this article helpful or interesting please check out other material for Holly J. Harrington at www.Triond.com click on user and put above name.)

Frederick A. Larson is an unknown right now but he may become a very interesting figure someday in the Astronomical World, that is if his theory proves right.  Anyway Mr. Larson is a learned lawyer and a philosopher by degree.  He never intended to go to college but maybe its a good thing for all of us humans he did.  Mr. Larson came up with an interesting theory.  The theory is based on one of the most historical figures of our time the birth of the Christ child and the star that foreshadowed His coming.

One Christmas season his daughter persuaded him to put up a star for the holiday season and he did and I think he was inspired to look more deeply into the phenomena which is portrayed in one of the greatest stories ever told.  You wonder what! Why Fred “Rick” Larson has come up with an interesting theory on what began it all, the Star of Bethlehem and what it may have been all about.  Anyway the good professor was so intrigued he decided over time to research this story and the science if you would behind it.  His theory is astonishing.  Using the Astronomy technology from science today he has mapped it out using the inherent pieces found in the beautiful poetry of the bible and given us a picture so vivid it boggles the mind at times.  It makes one think–could it be true?

To some of you this is not to be explained, but to the skeptic its in your court to decide for yourself of the possibilities.   He, Mr. Larson was unsure of himself because we Christians can go down a road to astrology (We do not recognize Astrology as a science anymore.).  To us astronomy is a different matter as he would soon discover in his studies it is based on science.  Once he proved it was based more on ancient learning and by the level of knowledge of the scribes of the times (Which may have been the basics taught today with limited access to our Universe at the time.) and combining it with what we know today of astronomy he went on and discovered what we know as the possible Star of Bethlehem.

We may never know but Mr. Larson brings us some compelling evidence and I for one am prejudice because I to am a Christian so you don’t have to take my word for it.

This is Christmas and if your looking for a little inspiration and a little scholarly understanding then please by all means pick up a DVD copy of “The Star of Bethlehem” by Mr. Frederick A. Larson and decide for yourselves.  It will probably make you run through many thoughts but its very interesting and worth the watch from any walk of life.  We all need a little cheer and inspiration at this time so rent it, buy it or borrow a copy from a friend and take it home for the holidays and pop some popcorn or whatever.  You may also key in the words, Star of Bethlehem and get on Mr. Larson’s sight which is very informative.

Who cares if your a believer or not; maybe it will inspire some of you or all of you.  We could use a little cheer this season.  You maybe surprised that it is one of the most exciting theories in a long time.

Interesting suggestion but would love to have more info into exactly what the good professor was doing. Also, you wrote, “He, Mr. Larson was unsure of himself because we Christians can go down a road to astrology but astronomy is a different matter as he would soon discover in his studies.” Shouldn’t it be the other way round? Isn’t it astrology that is verboten for Christians?

Nice work and I hope you keep writing . Best wishes . j

Troubling is the ‘work’ of Larson seems to be an uncredited repetition of the 1991 book, “The Star That Astonished the World”, by Earnest L.Martin. Virtually all of what martin wrote has been reporduced by the larsen’s and passed off as ‘new research’. It seems like plagiarism is afoot here.

More: a free online version ot Martin’s work is here:

This is from 1991. Compare it yourself to Larson’s “new research”.

    God bless.

Very interesting but I think the small difference between Martin’s work and Larson’s work is that Larson just took the information and mapped it out in Astronomy. Larson’s theory work is just a little different including well known facts to anyone in history including Martin’s work. Everyone
can find this information and do what both men did. I find both men’s scholarship very interesting for reference into the Life of Christ.
