Thanksgiving One-liners for a Turkey Dinner to Remember

Surprise your pals with invites for that turkey day dinner, with clever slogans written on them.

Thanksgiving is a traditional holiday, the sorts of things to fill up greeting card lines for parties that you invite your family and church officials to. These things are what are called conventional taglines, which most people have heard of, and help to keep a person from gagging when they laugh at a photo of your dog wearing a pilgrim costume, or a video of you doing the chicken dance, or some such silliness. These one-liners include:

Please come to my Thanksgiving dinner, and be our friend.

You are invited to my house for Thanksgiving, please bring a covered dish.

We’re inviting you over for stuffing, cranberries, potatoes, turkey and pie. We’re serving a turkey, please don’t cry, just bring the wine.

This is a day of remembrance and thanks – we’re thankful to have you as a friend. Please come over to join us for Thanksgiving dinner this year.

Our autumn harvest has arrived, and we’d like you to partake of it this Thanksgiving.

You’re invited to our house for Thanksgiving.

Welcome the fall with us, some crispy vegetables, succulent poultry, and you.

The weather’s cool, and so are you. We’d like you to stop by this Thanksgiving for our supper.

It’s potluck this Thanksgiving, so, bring a covered dish – be sure to wear your best, for this is what we wish.

As the colors of autumn arrive, and the harvest fills our garage, we remember who our friends are. Please help us empty our refrigerator of excess food this Thanksgiving – come over, have a meal on us.

Of course, the traditional party invite is printed on a white vellum paper, with gold or silver writing, though, if you wish to, you could make your own party invitation, using collaged paper, or rice paper, or kefir, or, using a no longer food-worthy used blender, homemade paper. Or, you could carefully scribble one-liners onto cardboard from food boxes, and decorate these with stickers, even the ones off the produce from supermarkets will do in a pinch, to create something different. Be yourself, prepare yourself for the scrapbooking class or party by way of using lesser grade materials, the things that usually get thrown in the trash just might be treasure. That’s another fine reason for placing all your papers in the recycling bin, it is a cleaner, neater version of the old “circular file”, or wastebasket.

Then, there’s the sort of zany one-liners or tag-lines that bring a little bit of zing to the party invite, things that really zap the reader as soon as they open the envelope.

We’re inviting you to our house this Thanksgiving, as we need a ham to roast.

We’re not having you for dinner this Thanksgiving, we’re inviting you over our house to play with our pets.

If Mayflowers bring Pilgrims, why is Thanksgiving in November? So the roads will be less crowded when you drive over to have dinner with us, of course.

We need someone to covertly slip turkey to our dogs, so we’re having you over for Thanksgiving.

This year, we’d like you to bring canned cat food to our house for Thanksgiving – the fuzzies miss you dearly.

Us turkeys are looking for company this Thanksgiving, please come over for dinner.

The drinks are not on the house, so get off the roof, and come on inside for a meal this Thanksgiving.

We’re recycling old strangers and inviting these folks over for Thanksgiving – bring a covered dish.

We tried inviting over the squirrels, pigeons, and chipmunks – they were busy, so, we’re inviting you over instead.

Whatever your choices or preferences for Thanksgiving invite creations might be, just remember to be yourself when making them, giving the invite your personal style will help your T-Day to be a memorable and festive occasion for everyone.
