The Best Gift You Can Give?

If you’ve finished your Christmas shopping,you’ve probably been thinking, Have i selected the best gifts for my family? I hope they like what i got them this year!

You probably saw some pretty nice things that were way beyond your budget. And you didn’t want to settle for just another tie for Dad or earrings for Mom.

If you’re in a last minute panic,here’s a suggestion: Think about what makes the person who he or she is. What is unique about them? What do they really like? Dislike? What are their favorite activities? This might point you in the right direction. ( And if all else fails,you can always ask for a list of suggestions ).

But whatever you decide on, the best gift you can give your family is the gift of your self. The concept was modeled by God when He gave us the incomparable gift of His Son ( 2 Cor. 9:15 ). He gave himself for us so that we might experience the forgiveness of sins and have eternal life.

Sure you’ll come up with a gift. And as you give it, in a way you’re giving yourself. Why not consider this: Follow up on that present by going to each family member and arranging a little time just with them. Have coffee with Dad. Take Mom to the mall. Plan activities you can do with your brother and sister.

As you do, think of some special or positive words you can say to each of them. Or come up with something you both enjoy talking about. Get below the surface a little.

Yes, it’ll be hard. Just finding the time is tough enough. But you’ll discover in the end that it’s the best gift you can give…
