The Best New Years Resolution
Very few people fulfill their last new year’s resolution, I know I did not. We continue to compose New Year resolutions year after year with the same desires only to realize by year end, that we are yet to achieve any of our yearly intentions.
The best New Year resolutions
It is the time of year when people sit and reevaluate their priorities. They reminisce on the challenges they faced in the past year and the mistakes that made. It is the time to reflect on that old resolution that was made on Januarys 1, 2008 and assess how much of what was stated was achieved.
Very few people fulfill their last new year’s resolution, I know I did not. We continue to compose New Year resolutions year after year with the same desires only to realize by year end, that we are yet to achieve any of our yearly intentions. This is largely due to the fact that we only state what we need to achieve but do not outline how we intend to achieve it. We do not prepare possible alternatives in case of challenges, digressions, setbacks and obstacles.
Most of our New Year resolutions are simply wish lists for what we would like for the New Year. We need to cultivate a far more productive New Year resolution: one that is not founded on wishful thinking but on deliberate change in actions, habits and thought processes which is necessary to guarantee our success. We may not achieve everything that is on our list but at least, we would have been half way there by the end of the year and feeling satisfied with ourselves instead of feeling like we have wasted another year.
We could start by cultivating a New Year resolution that is based on our genuine desires. Most New Year resolution reflects desires for fame and riches. Some people may want to lose weight. Others desire more profound manifestation such as increase in spirituality. Many want to simple improve their lives and have more fulfilling experiences. A few individuals want to make it to the end of the year alive and out of harm’s way.
It is better to concentrate on changing your morale and thought processes. Only then will you achieve what you desire. You will never lose that last ten pounds if you do not make a mental transformation, change in your dietary and eating habits.
