The Christmas Holiday

by DanielleAF in Holidays, November 3, 2006

All about the ups and downs of christmas.

The Christmas holdiday is hectic and stressful try to buy everybody the right gifts and such and getting together with family for the holiday. There are also some fun times, Decorating, baking, parties, and caroles. Let’s not forget about the big day, and the dinner.

With this holiday season being hectic running around and trying to get everybody a gift and get it wrapped and keep it hidden form watchful eyes is hard. We all still try to do it though. There is still the stress of getting the right gift and not getting a gift that will be hated, but one that will be used and remembered.

Getting together with your family or Inlaws is always streessful too. You never know what to expects. Weather it be criticism to compliments to you are doing everything wrong. But at the end of the day they are still your family and you love them anyway.

There are many good aspect of the holiday season to out way the bad ones. Like decorating! You get to decorate you house inside and out. Blues, greens, reds, silvers, whites. The decorating and putting up the Christmas tree is what gets you in the mood! My tree is always done in blues and silvers and whites.

Growing up I always remember the house smelling like cookies and cakes around Christmas. That is when most of the making was done, Sugar cookies, gingerbread men, cakes and pies, we always had to much and we always shared with the neighbors!

The christams parties where peole would dress in their festive clothing and have cookies and sweets and play card games and pool were always a favoriate of mine! I loved to watch the adults drink. The more they drank the funnier they were, and that is still true today. The best part was the miseltoes the weidest couple would get caught under it and it was fun to watch!

I always loved that they would start plaing Christmas songs on the radio after Thanksgiving but as I have gotten older it seems to bother me more and more, maybe because I am not ready for it to be Christmas yet… the year seems to fly by more now.

Then the big day finally comes You get up early in the morning and open presents and drink (lots of) coffee and listen to music and just be thanksful it’s almost over. Everybody is in the kitchen helping cooking the big dinner and people show up and we eat. And just enjoy each others company!

Then the cleanup all the paper the dishes the food, the dessert comes and then there is the clean up from that. You say good by to everybody and get a good nights resst. Then you debate when to take all the decorations down and you do so. You make a vow to start earlier next year like you always do but every year seems to be the same!

Got to love Christmas!
