The First Countries to Enter The New Year 2011
Do you know that some countries will celebrate the arrival of the new year while others are still taking breakfast on New Year’s Eve?
Before people in most countries have woken up and eaten their breakfast on December 31st m any countries will have welcomed the New Year on January 1st! In fact, some countries are already some hours into the year 2011, as I write! Others will soon follow. The following are ten of the first countries to celebrate the arrival of the new year.
(1) Kiribati – The city of Kirimati in Kiribati entered the New Year since Fri. 31st December 6:00 am Eastern Time. Kiribati is eighteen (18) hours ahead of Eastern Time in the United States. Kiribati is an island in the central
(2) Parts of New Zealand – How fitting that the second country to welcome the new year has a name that sounds like “new zeal.” That is the spirit! At the time of writing (9:30 am ET) they are already approximately three hours into the New Year.
(3) Antarctica – I am not sure who will greet the new year here. Antarctica is already two and a half hours into the new year, greeting the new year at 7:00 am Eastern Time Friday.
(4) Marshall Islands– This island has already marshalled its “troops” into the new year approximately one hour and a half ago at 8:00 am Eastern Time Friday.
(5) Norfolk Island – Folks on this island will see tomorrow when we are still living in the today. They welcomed the new year about 8:30 am Eastern Time.
(6) Parts of Australia – They may be down under but they are on top as far as greeting the New Year early. At 9:00 am Eastern Time the new year was ushered in in parts of Australia.
(7) Russia – Russia is beating the rush to the end of the old year. Russia will see the new year at 10:00 am Eastern Time.
(8) Japan – Japan is ahead of many countries in terms of production but it is also ahead in terms of time. It can rightly be called a country of the future. Japan will enter the new year at 11:00 am Eastern Time.
(9) South Korea – Fireworks will be going off in South Korea from 11.00 am Eastern Time.
(10) China – The most populated country in the world is among the first set of countries to see the new year at 12:00 pm Eastern Time.
