The Meaning of 4th of July

In the United States, the 4th of July also known as Independence Day is not just an excuse to gorge oneself on hotdogs and hamburgers, or to set off some fireworks. It is the birth day of the United States of America. Specifically it is date the original 13 states declared their independence from England.

 It was on July 4th 1776 that the Continual Congress signed the Declaration of Independence. The result of the signing the Declaration of Independence and war that followed was the birth one of the freest nations in history.

 Let’s not let any one take this freedom away for the promise of security or even prosperity, for the result would be neither secure, prosperous, nor free.
