The Sleepiest Christmas Ever
A exciting day, a sleepy celebration…
One Christmas I was in my uncles coffee and cocoa estate in Thenaruvi (Which literally means honey stream or stream of honey) plucking leeches of myself and wondering how to pass the time till night when Santa clause (Papchen uncle) would come and we could celebrate Christmas all night. To pass the time we went to the river to swim. We all waded to the deep area and dived under and swam out to the rock in the middle. later itty went back to the house to pee, and came back with a box full of etheykya appams and the little plastic box used to float nicely upright and we used to send it to each other down the current. At times when it grew too hot we used to take turns to sit on the rock under the little waterfall, it wasn’t too cold either because there was a little rock pool exposed to the sun and the rock heated it up like a little hot tub. But the best of all was the the rock of which we used to dive in and pretend to be drowning. After that we lay just floating for some time.
The next thing we decided to do was to go have lunch, we were famished. For lunch there was ,rice ,fried chicken ,mango pachadi ,pappadam ,roast pork etc. Topped With ice cream and leechi pudding.
After lunch we decided to take a nap and play cards a lazy afternoon ensued, later we went back to the stream and exhausted ourselves swimming again and we hiked up-stream and had a swim against the strong current there, after all this evening it was 6 O clock we went back to a delicious dinner and sleep.
The next morning I was told that everyone had tried to wake me up when papchen uncle (Santa clause) had come with presents of candy canes and toy trucks (I was 7) the toy trucks had survived but the candy canes had not and i never got any!
