The War Against Christmas
Each year Christ seems to be further removed from Christmas by society. Many people have had enough and want to remind us to put Christ back in Christmas because he is the Real Reason For The Season.
As the Christmas season for 2010 approaches, the War Against Christmas shows no signs of abating. If anything, it is only growing more intense.
Cities ban Christmas parades. Schools refuse to allow Christmas pageants. Businesses fire employees who say “Merry Christmas.” Christmas music is prohibited from downtown streets in some places.
The world is hell bent on kicking Christ out of Christmas, of removing all traces to the day that celebrates the Savior’s birth. How do we fight back in the War Against Christmas? This year, it’s time for those of us who are offended by the culture’s attack to stand our ground, to show our numbers, to refuse to be intimidated by political correctness. It is a war fueled by the liberal left
and its anti-Christian agenda. It is a war that too many Christians have caved in on. It is time to stand up, to counter every “Happy Holidays” we hear with “Merry Christmas,” to boldly tell others that the Jesus is the reason for the season. There are many ways to do so.
It all starts with reaching those in our own circles of influence, friends, relatives, co-workers, the people we meet at the grocery store, the gas station, at the health club. We should use the word “Christmas” every chance we get. We display Christmas bumper magnets on our cars. We send out Christmas cards, play Christmas music and, whenever we hear someone denigrating Christmas, let them know how offensive we find their anti-Christian bias. The reason the anti-Christmas side has gotten so much attention is because the pro-Christmas crowd has remained silent, afraid to ruffle feathers or stir controversy and be politically incorrect. That’s why Christmas seems to be on the retreat these days. We seem outgunned by
the elitists who are doing everything they can to turn Christmas into a Winter Solstice Festival or some such sillyness.
No more.
This year, let’s be bold and fight back.
Let’s take a stand and determine that we will use the Christmas season to tell others why there is hope for us all: We have a Savior and, if we will but follow him, we have a real hope and a real future. It’s time to win back the ground we have lost.
Never forget that Jesus is the REAL Reason for the Season! Let’s keep Christ in Christmas! We can do this!
Finally, remember this: Jesus is alive. He is watching. And when we keep Christ in Christmas, we honor Him. That’s worth any battle anytime.
Merry Christmas everyone. Pass it on!
