Tis the Season to be Jolly
I can not believe that it is that time of year already.
The time of year where kids are the focus of this holiday. It seems that I just took down the Christmas lights from last year and here I am putting them up again already, running my electric bill through the roof. What I do want to hit on here is the fact that we, as adults, take it to such new extremes that we don’t even care about the debt we as adults tend to put ourselve into in order to see the smile on the kids faces. I am not alone when I say Christmas is for children, but why do we always tend to put ourselves in debt, buying things we can’t afford buying for the adults as well. It is one thing to buy for the children because it should be that way, for the children. You definitaly can not beat the look on a childs face when they open that gift that they put on their wish list and open it on christmas morning. When I was a kid, I can vividly remember putting a couple of chocolate chip cookies and a glass of milk on the fireplace for Santa when he came down my chimney to leave me gifts. I thought I would leave him a snack to get some energy before he left my home. I would struggle to stay awake to try and get a glimpse of Saint Nick but it would never happen. I would always pass out before that could happen. When I would wake up, usually at 6 AM, I would go staight to my parents room to wake them up so the entire family could go downstairs and open up all the awesome gifts I knew Santa had left me the night before. When I would come downstairs, the first thing I would look for was to see if Santa would eat the snack I left for him. I cherrish those memories. I was a kid and my parents did everything in their power to make sure I got what I wanted. Naughty or nice, it was always about the kids. How could you not give them what they wanted. It’s a kids Holiday and they wait for Christmas and deserve the gifts they had coming to them. Now don’t get me wrong, I am a grown man and I love Christmas to death, but, Christmas should be a holiday for children with the adults there to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ our savior. I believe that christmas should be a family holiday with the main focus on the kids. The adults, by all means, should be celebrating Christ’s birth. I am not a party pooper and I can’t afford to buy gifts for anyone other than the children and thats the way I believe it should be. I am not rich and can’t afford to buy gifts for my friends so I would hope they don’t take it personally when I don’t buy them a gift. God forgive me for being frugal. I wish I could buy for all but I can’t and hope they understand this simple fact that I am broke. Christmas should be a holiday for children, with the adults celebrating the birth of Baby Jesus. You can not beat the look on a childs face when they open that give that they wanted in forever and a day. It’s also a priceless give for us and that is the only gift that I want.
