‘Tis The Season to be Thrifty?
Christmas’ values are so much more different now.
Many years ago, and sometimes even in today’s age, there weren’t many toys going around, meaning that each year, families and friends would gather together, and celebrate a day when they could all be joyful and happy. They could easily enjoy any amount of snowman, snowball fights, playing with old action figures, and just relaxing. Not only with Christmas, but with the other holidays from Kwanza to Hanukkah, eack centered around the winter solstice, bringing everyone of relation together.
How have we changed today? With corporate slogan and competitive shopping prices. Now, it’s no longer about just family time, but large businesses such as Walmart, Best Buy, and Future Shop are using the holiday season as nothing but a way to gain profit for their own self-satisfaction. And what do we do? We give in to the pressure by buying their products and services, because we want to be able to have the best out of Christmas with all this new age technology, and to buy our relatives the nicest things they want.
Each business is competing for the best price, but it’s not about giving you the best deal for the holidays, but about ensuring that you will buy more of their products, which is all they want. So what should we do? Only get a few things each year for your relations, so that not only will they learn to deal with what they are given, but to enjoy all the little things, such as family time. With the holidays coming close, buy wise, and have fun.
