Trick or Treat Safety Checklist
Halloween is coming and with that comes trick or treating for many children. There are certain safety measures that need to be observed to make sure that Halloween doesn’t end in a real horror show.
It is hard to believe that Halloween is coming up this year this quickly but it is coming and with the holiday comes all of the little trick or treaters dressed in their latest costumes. It is rather interesting to see what are the popular Halloween costumes for any individual year and what old favorites are being played out once again. Plus all of the candy and the goodies, Halloween is a favorite holiday of many people, especially when people go trick or treating.
Yet, while having fun, we must also remember that it is important to be safe. We live in some rough times and there are people out there who are rather dangerous. Not to mention as it gets later at night, there is also many other concerns. We all want to have fun but a night of fun can end in tragedy, if we are not safe.
Trick or Treat Safety Checklist
With that being said, there are a number of things that can be done to make your children safe and sound as they go trick or treating. If they are younger, it might be a good idea to join them on this journey to keep them on a watchful eye. Slightly older, at your discretion they might be able to venture out on their own but do impart upon them the importance of safety.
Map Out a Route When Trick or Treating
Planning is something that is key. Unless you have just recently moved in, there is a pretty good chance that you have a good general idea of the neighborhood that you live. Including potentially what kind of people live and what houses you might not want your children going near. Plus its good to be organized and doing a route can do so.
Dress for the Weather
At the end of October, it could get potentially rather chilly in some parts after a certain time. While a coat might tend to detract from the costume, health is more important than the image that you maintain. So if it’s going to get cold and rainy, make sure your children bundle up.
Observe Elementary Traffic Safety.
Common sense might tend to take a backseat when people are having fun but really, the rules of traffic are rather important. Look both ways before you cross the street to make sure no one is coming, walk with the traffic on the side of the road, and make sure no one is exiting or entering a driveway. It might seem like common sense but a reminder never hurt anyone. You may have to be doubly careful if its rather dark out.

Halloween wasn’t such a big thing in Australia years ago, but it does seem to get bigger and bigger each year. It’s all good fun.

In my country the Philippines Halloween is not a big deal, but there are horror masks for sale. … This article anyway is very informative.

Kids must be made to understand clearly why they shouldn’t sneak any of the candy. Excellent tips.
