        There are many rumors that suggest the number 420 pertains to a legal code in California to suggest that there is “pot in progress”, however, the number 420 really refers to unlawful obstruction of public land.  For instance, defacing a the benches found in a public park, would then allow for an officer to call in on the radio the code 420,  the code 420 has nothing to do with cannabis. However, in the 20th century 420 has been the cannabis smokers holiday, most cannabis users do not see cannabis has a harmful substance most certainly when compared to alcohol, even though both are depressants.

       The number 420 has has significance in many different types of cultures and sub-cultures.  April 20Th is also important an important date on the farmers calendar because it is said to have your crops ready to be planted for the harvesting season.  Hitlers birthday is also April 20, however, that has nothing to do with cannabis at all.  Perhaps, sometime in the 60’s when cannabis became more main stream did the number 420 mean some type of code or group, I have read  pages and pages of content discussing  the number and as of yet nothing is certain, the most common and concrete ideal comes from an editor of the high times stating that the term 420 originated at San Rafael High School, in 1971, among a group of about a dozen pot-smoking wiseacres who called themselves the Waldos, who are now pushing 50. The term was shorthand for the time of day the group would meet, at the campus statue of Louis Pasteur, to smoke pot. Intent on developing their own discreet language, they made 420 code for a time to get high, and its use spread among members of an entire generation. While our teens feel that they know something we don’t, you can let them in on the fact that it was your generation that thought up the numbers and developed its meaning until it was rooted.        I went to a school where hundreds with gather around in meadows, in a huge circle and when the clock struck 420 everyone in that circle would spark up.  For those who did not smoke, this event was still quite incredible, there was a overwhelming sense of togetherness and peace about that circle.  If you ask a stoner about the laws against pot, most of them would say that is a bit outrageous.  Out of all controlled substances pot is that list of offenses punishable by law, when spirits are not.  And though there may be a slower reaction time that stems from smoking, unlike becoming drunk on alcohol, hardly ever has a being been accused of wrongful behavior besides the act of smoking itself.  When a being partakes in spirits their inhibitions seem to dwindle with the more that is consumed and holding a person responsible for their actions while they were drunk is almost impossible, how many times have we heard, “I was so wasted last night, it was outrageous.”?  Most of us have heard that and have even felt that way after we have had a couple, but have you ever known of someone high on pot to act in such outlandish ways with no inhabitants about them, probably not.  However, being stoned does make you a little more sluggish and depending on the time of your mental well-being in can act as a create drug or, a OMG, that was world is insane I do not belong here.  But mostly the cannabis plant makes music even more majestic and magical than it already is.
