9-11: Remembering That Fatal Day

The September 11th attacks.

The terrorists attacks on September 11 2001 are often known as the 9/11 attacks. They were a series of suicide attacks by the terrorist group Al-Qaeda on America. 19 Al-Qaeda gang members hijacked 4 passenger airliners. The hijackers purposely crashed 2 of the air crafts into the two towers of the World Trade Centre situated in New York. Everybody on the planes were killed and nearly 3000 civilians. Both buildings collapsed within 2 hours, destroying nearby buildings and damaging others. The hijackers crashed a third plane into the Pentagon building just outside of Washington. The fourth plane crashed into a field near in rural Pennsylvania, after some of its passengers and flight crew attempted to retake control of the plane, which the hijackers had planned on crashing into Washington D.C however there were no survivors from any of the flights. In total 2,993 people from 90 different nationalities died in the attacks.

Repairs and the rebuilding of the World Trade Centre are still being undertaken today.
