A Christian’s View on Abortion
A Christian’s view on abortion.
“Thou shalt not kill”, a commandment given by God Himself, yet this country which claims to be “One Nation Under God”, is daily killing hundreds and thousands of babies. Abortionists take all form of humanity from a baby by calling it a fetus. How can this be?
“Land of the free”, yet a child has no freedom of choice in the issue of his or her own life. The Roe vs. Wade decision in 1973 states that a child is not human while still in the womb. An unborn child is a possession of the mother, therefore it is her decision whether to terminate the baby up to 9 months with a doctor’s assistance.
In the United States of America, we call it murder to take your two year old child’s life, or your two day old’s for that matter. Why then is it our “freedom” to kill your two month old fetus? By this time, the baby’s head is one half of his total size, all facial features are developed with clarity including milk teeth buds in the gums, there is a brain in which brain waves can be detected, recorded, and read. This baby responds to touch and is able to swim and move around with great ease. The impulses have begun to control and regulate such body functions as circulation, digestion, and waste elimination. The skeleton has changed from cartilage to bone and it can easily be visually identified as a human baby.
There are 4 primary methods for abortion.
1)Dilation and Curettage-These are mostly performed before the 13th week. A tiny, hoe-like instrument, the curette, is inserted into the womb through the dilated cervix. The abortionist then scrapes the wall of the uterus, cutting the infant to pieces.
2)Suction-A suction tube is inserted through the cervix into the womb. The baby’s body and placenta are torn apart and sucked into a jar.
3)Salt Poisoning-Also referred to as hypernatremic abortion, these are generally performed after 13 weeks of gestation. A long needle is inserted through the mother’s abdomen and a strong salt solution is injected directly into the amniotic fluid surrounding the baby. The salt is swallowed and “breathed”, slowly poisoning the baby and burning his skin. The mother goes into labor about one day later and expels a dead, grotesque, shriveled baby.
4)Prostaglandin Chemical Abortion-Hormone-like chemicals are injected or otherwise applied to the muscles of the uterus, causing it to contract heavily, therefore pushing out the baby. This procedure holds many side effects for the mother. Some have even died of cardiac arrest when the prostaglandin compound was injected.
Doctors perform over one million abortions per year in the United States of America alone. That is approximately one for every 2.8 live births. It is fast becoming a form of birth control for many young women.
We were told in the days before the Supreme Court abortions decisions that abortion-on-demand would reduce child abuse. Quite on the contrary, child abuse has climbed by nearly 400% since 1973, as society has devalued the lives of our children.
As Christians, we must take a stand to protect the lives that God has created with a plan and a purpose. At the same time, it is our duty to aid in the emotional and spiritual healing of the millions of women who have fallen prey to the myth that abortion is not killing, only to later find that they are consumed with guilt and are never the same. Abortion is not a medical problem, but a social problem. Their fate or their future…you decide.

I’ve been reading your article on my friend’s account. THis is your best yet. My friend that I was reading you, when she was a junior in highschool, during right to life week, they had to watch an abortion through an ultrasound machine. (she went to a very good Catholic school.)
