A Question of Ethics

The definition of ethics and where ethics come from.

A Question of

Ethics is having good clean morals and remembering the golden rule, to treat people as you want to be treated. I am sure that many will agree that are ethics are based upon our religion which comes from the bible. Also our beliefs and values have all come from our ancestors that come from so many people.

Here are 5 dilemmas, which have been used as examples for the public to have an idea of how ethics are in are daily life. (I determined if they are an ethical violation and develop an alternative action that could be taken to resolve the situation just so you could have an idea of ethics.)

1.        One of your co-workers is constantly being sarcastic to other employees and prefers to play solitaire instead of helping other employees or completing work that is due at the end of the week.

This in not ethical the employee should be doing his job. I would pull him aside and tell him that he isn’t being fare to the other employees.

2.        You take home a ream of paper to use to print out your school report.

I think this is ethical but most likely I would ask someone for it I wouldn’t just take it.

3.        You are a customer of Titan Brokerage and you receive change from a transaction that is in your favor – the company gives you back $20.00 too much. You are 10 miles away when you notice the error.

It would be unethical and against my will if I didn’t return my money. So if it was too much of a trip to turn around, I would go online find out the street address and mail it to them.

4.        Josh is constantly coming to work late and always asking other employees to cover for him.

This is unethical and unfair to the other employs. But the question is what context this is in is he having a hard time? Is this something he is not going to do for a long period of time? If he continued doing this constantly for months on end then you might have to take it to the manager.

5.        You are hired by Titan Brokerage because of the wonderful grade point average you put on your resume.

This is ethical… Why might I say so? Well if this is the true grade point average that I received and it is truthful then it is ethical.

So as we all know that ethics are in are daily life and that are ethics come from our upbringing. Also ethics are believed to come from are ancestors that founded America. But some find this questionable, but that is another subject.
