This will be about one of the hottest and most important issue that affect a person’s life: Abortion. This piece will discuss the Family Research Council and where they stand on the issue of abortion. Abortion has been a very hot topic discussed lately in the field of health and it will continue to be discussed as long as the topic of health is involved. [1] The Family Research Council is an organization which was created by James Dobson in Washington D.C. back in 1980. [2] The Family Research Council was at first an idea which was discussed in a conference meeting at a hotel in Washington back in the early 1980’s.

The Family Research Council was brought into the main stream through a strong connection to the Reagan administration. That connection to the Reagan Administration was a person named Jerry Regier. Regier was responsible for bringing the FRC into the Political spotlight. [3] “Regier developed fresh means to link pro-family experts with government research and policy making offices.” Simply said, the Family Research Council stepped into the spotlight when Reiger opened up all new lines of communication and made connections between people who studied families intensively and Political heavyweights in office. [4] “FRC’s immediate goal was to counter the credentialed voices arrayed against life and family with equally capable men and women of faith.” The FRC focuses and fights for the rights of fetuses to live and they fight against those who think that Abortion is an option at all.

The Family Research Council believes that every person has the natural born right to live. I personally agree with the Family Research Council on this issue and their belief. I believe a woman should have an abortion if and only if she is the victim of either rape, incest, or if she is having problems during the pregnancy that is putting both the mother’s and baby’s lives in serious jeopardy and only if there are no other options left. [5] “Few things touch on the sanctity of human life more than the practice of abortion. A pregnancy should not simply be “terminated,” as if it were something impersonal and problematic and it cannot be without physical and emotional consequences. A child in the womb is a distinct, developing, wholly human being, and each time a mother decides or a father pressures to end such a life it is a profound tragedy. Abortion harms the mother as well, and deprives society of the gifts of the unborn.”" Every time a mother or mother-to-be makes the decision to or is pressured into having an abortion she is allowing society’s gift to be completely ripped away from them. In fact I’ll add on to it by stating it is like the saying “When you attack a man, you just attack one person but when you attack a woman you attack yourself, her, and a generation.”
