Abortion: A Hot Topic
Abortion is an issue that has been morally unclear for centuries.Could there be a simpler solution?
Abortion is a hot button issue that throws many people into arguments. It’s something that many people try not to talk about, along with politics and religion. While it is an important issue that affects thousands of lives daily, it is still not something that is being addressed appropriately. Those who are “pro-life” usually have the unborn child’s best interests in mind, while those who are “pro-choice” are focusing more on the mother. Both standpoints have very legitimate points, but it seems both may have overlooked one major detail.
Abortion clinics need to stay open. From a business prospective, the best way to do this is to keep performing abortions. Women who come into the clinics don’t usually have their minds 100% made up. Again, from a business perspective, the clinics need to do what they can to keep these women from walking out of the clinic with a change of heart. To do this, women are told countless things. They are told that the baby isn’t even a “baby” yet. They are told what a terrible hassle it is to have a child. They are told that the fetus won’t feel a thing. They are told whatever it takes.
Those who claim to be “pro-life” take a similar approach. They tell women how terrible it is to kill a baby. They tell women that their souls will be damaged if they get an abortion. They tell women how selfish they are to even consider taking a life for their own convenience. They say whatever they need to prevent an abortion.
Both sides have their reasons. “Pro-choice” opinions usually believe that having abortions for unwanted or unplanned children will lower the rates of child-abuse/neglect. “Pro-life” opinions usually believe that fewer abortions would lead to more babies available for adoption for the thousands of parents on waiting lists. There are plenty of legitimate arguments from both sides of the fence. However, while this debate rages on, there are thousands of confused mothers looking for direction.
Many mothers who have abortions know little to nothing about the procedure and it’s risks. There are many types of abortion that vary by situation and the progress of the pregnancy. However, all of these have potential consequences as does any medical procedure. The idea that anyone would undergo an abortion without knowing everything about it and how it will affect the patient is absurd. However, the blame cannot be put solely on the recipients of abortion. It should be mandatory for women to know the procedures, as well as the day by day fetal development during pregnancy. These things should be presented to women as young teenagers, as that is when the procedure becomes an option for young women.
To present facts about these things is not to sway women in one direction or another. It is simply to inform women about the seriousness of this medical procedure. Women can’t be expected to make such a decision without being educated about it. Women die every year from abortion complications. Some women end up getting complete hysterectomy’s because of infection or bleeding. It only makes that the more educated a woman is, the more intelligently she can make a sound decision.
Educating women won’t eliminate abortions, and more than likely won’t raise abortion rates. However, educating women at a young age will allow them to fully be in control of their lives.

Yes, and it should be required for women considering having one to have an ultrasound so she is aware of what she is eliminating.

Clear ~ concise. What are the next steps, action to do something to educate women who may have to make a decision like this or anyone who may know someone who has to make this kind of decision?
