Abortion, Civility and Manners, Population Control

Thinking about Abortion; it’s causes, results, culture and ideas for managing. Observing today’s culture on manners and civility. Random Thoughts.

Abortion- American Genocide or a Medical Procedure?

If left alone, in most cases -98% +/- a fetus will become a person in nine months, excepting spontaneous abortion, which “nature” performs when a fetus is incapable of functioning. On that basis, what justification is there for the 1,200,000 plus induced abortions  in the U.S., (45,000,000 from 1973-2005) and millions more worldwide? In 2006 there were 4,269,000 total births (U.S. Census), approximately 28,000 infant deaths at birth, For 2008 (est) 4,600,000 with 31,000 deaths during birth process.

This means abortions would have increased the Births Total to approx 5,800,000 in 2008, an astonishing 30% + increase!

That’s a lot of babies not crying for 2:00 Am feedings, constant diaper changes, or recognizing mother’s faces with a priceless smile.

That America can’t come up with a system to prevent unwanted births through long-term voluntary contraception, parental and community coaching and political leadership is just awful. How about paying 13 year old girls a Five Thousand Dollar Bonus to have a five-year contraceptive implant? And Then paying them another Five Thousand Bonus to re-implant at age eighteen.

That would prevent almost all the induced abortions and keep children in school, where continuing their education would allow them to improve their chances to become personally productive, professionally and financially.

On a Writer’s Article About Civility

I agree with you, but unfortunately that is not the way society or technology is headed. I have been writing about AnyThing, AnyTime, AnyWhere (AAA) for some time and I still believe and want that  to be the Grail of Internet, of consumer utility of Information. However, and I think eventually a lot of people will do the same, I manage my “interface.” I don’t turn on the T.V. cable news the moment I wake up or turn on the lights; I turn everything off when I really don’t want background brain “alert” status; when I want to think and write-which is what I do.
And, this is really funny, while I’m writing this, my 34 year-old son just called from California (I’m in Maryland) while he was at Costco for shopping, and we talked throughout his shopping trip-I guess you could say he was multi-tasking.
Did his activity disturb other shoppers? I asked him that, and he said the half the people around him were on their cellphones (with Bluetooth) at the same time.
  Confusion? Maybe.
  Distraction? For sure.

We could be looking at a whole new level of violence what with the “concealed carry” gun laws, imagined slights, societal paranoia.
“You talking to me? You talking to me? I hope you’re not talking to me. You talking to me?” (paraphrasing Robert De Niro in “Taxi Driver”).

Civility Forecast? Chancy today, public challenge ring tomorrow, waiting line forms to the left.
