Abortion Survivors: Tiny Victims That Beat the Odds
More than lumps of mere tissue to be removed in a medical procedure, these babies fought to live.
Heidi Huffman– In 1978, an unwed teenager was pressured into an abortion. She submitted to suction and the curette (a loop-shaped instrument, designed to scrape and excise) and was sent home. Two months later, she discovered she was still pregnant. A baby girl, Heidi, miraculously survived the abortion, with minimal amniotic fluid and minimal placenta left intact.
Sarah Smith–Sarah Smith was a twin. Her mother already had five children and decided abortion was the only option, not realizing she was carrying two children. The mother submitted to a D & C which resulted in the death of Sarah’s brother. Weeks later, it was discovered that one baby had escaped the dismemberment.
Amy Charlton–Amy survived three abortions! In spite of three saline abortion procedures, this baby hung on and was born alive and healthy.
These children are abortion survivors. Others survived the abortion procedure but later died from their injuries. One such case was Sarah Brown. This poor baby was 36 weeks along when a doctor stabbed her brain three times with a poison-filled needle. Somehow, Sarah survived and was born two days later, though left blind. Sarah was adopted and hung on for six months, then suffered a stroke. This little fighter lived for five years, then Sarah succumbed to the maltreatment she’d suffered in the womb and died.
Blob of tissue or baby? Perhaps the best means to determine whether abortion removes small developing lumps of tissue or actual human beings is to look at pictures of aborted babies. Disclaimer: pictures are incredibly disturbing; view with discretion. Abortion pictures

Wow, harrowing but unbelievable! A truly interesting and well researched article. I just couldn’t stop reading this. It’s amazing how they’ve survived and such late terminations like Ana at 32 weeks is shocking!

I encourage everyone to click on the embedded links to get the full story.
I cried in writing this, especially looking at pictures of late-term babies, babies who were missing heads, arms, etc. The picture that really undid me was one of what looked to be a little girl, with hair and eye lashes.
How any doctor can preform a late-term abortion is simply beyond understanding.

In UK law abortion after 24 weeks is illegal. I do actually think that 12 weeks should be the limit. I do agree with abortion in some circumstances but there needs to be a realistic time limit imposed on it and each case needs to be looked at individually.I think it is a very emotive subect and that people are apt to jump to conclusions before they have all the facts.

It must rank as the hardest decision to make.
I think it can only be decided by those involved, not panels of lobbyists, or courts.

Wow absolutely fascinating article. A real eye opener. I also thought that abortion after a certain term was illegal. This I find personally hard to believe that people would want to rip a childs arm off in the womb…shocking…very shocking to read. Well written article!

I have written multiple articles on this subject, been a key note speaker at the annual right to life march and have donated time to the cause of spreading awareness about the freedom of choice act.
All that being said I think that this article could constitute as a life saving document. Seriously. I cant believe people are leaving supportive commentary but not clicking “I Like It” which makes me believe some people are a little fake.
This is an outstanding representation of the truth and to hear real stories is a blessing. Send this to National Right to Life. Send it to Catholic sites. Send your link everywhere. It could save another Sarah Brown from having to fight through getting stabbed in the head. (That’s right she, not it, had a HEAD. Sound human enough?)
Last note. Don’t want a child? Keep your thing in the pants and close your legs.
Stumbled.

Thanks, everyone, for your comments and insights. I’m glad to see that no one is arguing what constitutes life, since my article isn’t discussing this.
As well, many mothers spend years trying to get over the emotional trauma of an abortion and my heart goes out to them for their loss.
It is my hope that people will look deep into their hearts about choice and whether, in exercising that choice, they are prepared to take away the choice of another.
Many events happen to us that are not of our choosing but taking a human life is not necessarily the best solution. While someone who is raped does not deserve to have this happen to them, neither does the innocent in the womb deserve to pay the price for a rapist’s terrible actions. One act of violence does not justify another.

It amazes me how people can be so cruel as to perform these things or have them done to their own flesh & blood. People need to ask themselves if they would want what happens during an abortion to happen to their Mom, Dad, Sister, etc. or any “relative” they care about & apply that same feeling of horror to this unborn “relative.” An unexpected pregnancy “seems” like a terrible thing, but everyone goos and gahs once the baby arrives, regardless of the situation with the baby’s parents. My 17 y.o. niece just had a baby, is no longer with the father & we are all in love with little Kylie!

Hi Emily,
Thanks for your comments. How any doctor could plunge scissors into the back of a baby’s head and suck out its brains while it is thrashing and struggling is beyond belief. And to tell mothers that it is fetal tissue to shield them from the reality is dishonest.
How many mothers, if they knew the truth, would go forward with an abortion? As one mother said above, she was told it was fetal tissue and when she heard a wail and reached down, there was a head! She remarked that there wasn’t supposed to be a head. She felt doctors had lied to her.

Hi Mayur01,
It says much about our society that we terminate human life when it is not convenient.
I still hold doctors responsible. They shield patients from the reality but how can it be informed consent when mothers do not know the reality? Interestingly, mothers who have come into possession of the truth most often decide against aborting their children.
People would be appalled is someone were to take a pre-born puppy or a kitten and smother it or cut it into pieces, yet this happens daily to human babies. When will society wake up?
Think of it this way: in one room a premature baby is wanted so efforts are made to save it. It’s viewed as being a human; in another room, a late-term pregnancy is terminated and the child isn’t considered human.

Amazing article! I had heard Gianna on Fox News around the time the debate over Pres. Obama lessening the stem cell research restrictions was happening. What a story. It is hard to imagine just the emotional aspects that these abortion survivors must deal with on a daily basis.
On another note: I personally disagree with abortion from a moral stand, but okay this America, and not everyone has the same intangible religious beliefs as I do. Therefore, not everyone will MORALLY have the same opinion as to when life begins. However, there is tangible evidence via science and the above documented cases as to when a fetus can survive outside the womb as a living breathing indisputable human baby. If the fetus can live outside the womb, then there can not be any dispute that the fetus is living inside the womb. So, how can a late term abortion not be murder?

Hi Jo,
Thanks for your insights. You always offer such good points.
Mothers should not be shielded from the reality of what abortion does to the developing baby. Some of the abortion methods are downright barbaric.
Even if people do not choose to believe that these babies are human, what about the pain and suffering they undergo? Unborn babies feel pain at an early date. To be burned, suffocated or ripped limb-to-limb does not show any sort of compassion for the developing human.
I urge any who feel it is a woman’s choice to snuff out the life of the unborn to watch the movie Silent Scream.

I just returned from reading Gianna’s story with tears in my eyes. God bless her and all our children. I don’t think her mother actually realized what she was doing.

Athlyn, thanks for bringing your perspective on this important aspect of life back into the public forum. I love your emphasis on the our choice of words. I wrote a piece surrounding the term ‘abort’ and for anyone interested, here is the link: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1155194/abortion_issue_aborted_in_2008_election.html?cat=9
The essence of my piece is that we have ignored the meaning of the words abort, abortion, etc., to suit private preferences and public agendas.
Take care,
Brian

Hi Judy,
Yes, due to medical sanitization of the words, many mothers really do not fully realize what will transpire. I believe it is unethical of medical practitioners to downplay abortion in an attempt to protect their patients. This is not informed consent.
Hi Brian,
It’s interesting how words can be changed to make them more acceptable or, conversely, loaded to invoke certain emotions, such as is done with propaganda and thought control.
In either scenario, these techniques are effective because they change people’s perception of matters.

I have to wonder at doctors who perform abortions. They are supposed to heal, not hurt or harm. How can any doctor dismember a defenseless human being under the guise of giving medical care? Where has compassion and reason gone?
How does a doctor sleep at night after performing a partial-birth abortion–plunging scissors into a the back of a baby’s head and sucking out its brains, while the infant is flailing and struggling?
Abortion is infanticide. Plain and simple

Hi Athlyn,
I just read your article. I have always been saddened by women choosing to, or being forced to have an arbortion. When people have unprotected sex and an unwanted pregnancy results, this is not the babies fault. If you don’t want a baby, then don’t play around. Give the baby up for adoption for goodness sakes. There are many people out there who want to have a child, but are unable to conceive. They probably would be more than happy to take the baby. A baby is a baby right from the start. Never has been or will it ever be a blob of nothng. Babies have just as much a right to live as their parents do.
Thanks so much for your well thought out and informative article. It is a sad reality that needs to somehow be stopped.

Hello, yes it\’s all obsfucation. As in all propaganda, the language is either loaded or words are sanitized to make people more comfortable.
The doctors and pro-choicers adopt innocent sounding words to hide the horrifying and sickening reality.
Out and out murder is committed each day. Defenseless babies–who are developed enough to feel pain–are suffocated, torn limb from limb, burned with saline, and have scissors plunged into their heads, then have their brains sucked out. This sounds like something out of a horror movie. Meanwhile, as has happened in the past, people swallow the hype and remain silent.
When will society wake up to the reality of abortion? People can play with words and terms but that doesn\’t change the fact that a developing baby is murdered.
It\’s all semantics: argue that it\’s a fetus, or an embryo or products of conception, or it\’s not viable– as if this changes the fact that it\’s a human being.
Interestingly, doctors and pro-choicers never want people to witness actual abortions. If these are merely simple procedures removing tissue, what are they afraid of?
As the old saying goes: the truth . . . hurts.

I want to thank everyone who has commented. I think dialogue is important.
There’s an old saying, perhaps more in tune with organizations that money-launder or cults that distribute propaganda materials: “Follow the paper trail.” The paper trail reveals the truth.
With the subject of abortion, we could say: “follow the photos of the carnage of abortion” or “speak to abortion survivors.” in all these scenarios, the reality is evident.
Victoria, I have to disagree. To equate my article discussing real people with something that would appear in the National Enquirer is not a fair comparison. Now, if I had written an articles titled: “Man Who Gives Birth to Bigfoot” or “Alien Baby,” I would agree with your assertion. These type of articles are written to titilate.

i cant believe that people are for such a horrible thing. this people are committing the worst thing ever. to kill any unborn child by ripping off their limbs and making them suffocate. this is the most unexceptionable crime you could perform. i am pro-life i don’t agree with women have a choice. the choice that they have is adoption, if they truly don’t want to take care of the child but to kill an innocent child because of your own selfish needs.
