Aclu Celebrates Victory
Through his policies and decision making process the president has made it clear he will bring change not only to the country but he will change American society into a more peaceful and conciliatory society.
With Eric Holder’s recent announcement that terrorist Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM) would be tried in federal court in New York, the ACLU and KSM experienced a day of nationwide celebration and jubilation. The majority of the country disagrees with this decision but our President has shown he has very little regards for what the majority of Americans think. After all the majority of Americans are people that do one of the following (if not all) they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations. Not my words, these belong to President Obama during his run for president.
Through his policies and decision making process the president has made it clear he will bring change not only to the country but he will change American society into a more peaceful and conciliatory society. He will do this regardless of the Constitution or unpopularity from gun carrying, bible thumping, bitter tea party fanatics that just don’t understand that he is doing what is best for the country and the world. If he could only get the people to understand that first you must destroy in order to rebuild, then his goal for a better country would be easier to achieve. Pelosi, Reid, Franks, Schumer, Walters, Boxer, Durbin and the rest of the Democrats understand the theory of rebuilding America like the mythological Egyptian Phoenix, its the majority that don’t know the story or understand the Obama strategy or philosophy.
Maybe the American Civil Liberties Union and KSM understand this theory and are quietly thanking the president for granting their wishes. Since KSM was first captured they have been working to have his trial moved to New York. In their minds there could be no more of a fitting place than New York to give them access to the world stage. They believe it is the perfect venue to put George Bush and the United States on trial for all of the past atrocities committed during the illegal War On Terror. They better than anyone understand our American system and the American media. They know for the next five years they will be able to publicly humiliate the past Administration and the actions of America following the 9/11 attacks.
The President must know and understand how divisive the news coming from these court proceedings will be for the country. Instead of pulling the country together his decision has deepened the divide that already exist in the country. By continuing to make decisions like this he will eventually tear the country apart and hasten our self destruction very similar to the way the Phoenix consumed itself by fire and later returned from its ashes. Whether we return a better nation or not will be determined in the future, meanwhile it is only fitting that KSM and the ACLU publicly acknowledge and thank President Obama for his wise decisions.

How could putting KSM on trial in new york possibly be divisive for america? What would you have him do have all suspected terrorists buried alive as soon as they have been convicted in the court of public opinion.

Since he is the self proclaimed mastermind of 9/11 he should go before the Military Tribunal. The only thing that will come from this is 5 more years of the Federal Government and Bush Administration defending their past actions. We won’t even admit Hasan and his attack on the troops at Ft Hood was the 1st successful terror attack on the homeland since 9/11. We are already divided on Health Care, Stimulus, Afghanistan, Foreign Policy (Bowing before kings and emperors), the economy, and the direction the country is being taken by this President and Congress, do we really need to be divided on this for another 5 years. I didn’t convict KSM he convicted himself and I have no mercy for self proclaimed terrorist or enemies of the United States, they have no mercy for our troops or Americans like Daniel Pearl.

First of all the fort hood shooting was not the first terrorist attack since 9/11, the shooting more closely resembles a school shooting than a terrorist attack and there have been plenty of school shootings since 9/11.
Secondly given the controversy surrounding military tribunals it seems that trying KSM in a military tribunal would be giving a huge propoganda boost to terrorist groups. Also I don’t see why this trial would divide the USA at all.

\”First of all the fort hood shooting was not the first terrorist attack since 9/11\”
There have been many attempts this was the 1st successful attack.
\”shooting more closely resembles a school shooting than a terrorist attack\”
He was a Muslim American that declared he was a \”Soldier of Alla\”, He was emailing a known Al Qaeda recruiter, He declared his allegiance to Islam not his country, He justified suicide bombings, and on it goes. He was not mentally ill but justified his actions through his radical idea of Islam.
\”given the controversy surrounding military tribunals it seems that trying KSM in a military tribunal would be giving a huge propoganda boost to terrorist groups\”
The only controversy is coming from the ACLU and the media. Military tribunals have been around since the founding of the country. Pirates attacking American ships went before Military tribunals, Abraham Lincoln\’s conspirators went before a Military Commission, and the Supreme Courts have upheld the use of Military Tribunals. If the argument is we are not at war and Military Tribunals should be restricted to war then we should redefine the definition of war. In my opinion when a country attacks another country with its military that is war. When a group attacks a country or declares war on a country that is war. As for propaganda there will be no cameras for KSM to parade around before in his flowing white robes making Jihadist speeches and statements.
\”Also I don’t see why this trial would divide the USA at all.\”
This discussion in itself shows how we are divided, the latest poll shows 63% of Americans favor Military over civilian trials for terrorist.
