Agents of Socialization

Socialization is a continuous learning process. When we encounter new experiences, we are challenged to create new interpretations of what we are and how we fit into society. This challenge becomes even clearer when we do role transitions. Learning takes place in many contexts. We learn at home, school, church, work, friends and media. These agents of socialization have a profound effect on personality development, self-esteem and social roles they play.

FAMILY

Of all the agents of socialization, the family is probably the most important. Although the form of the family varies from place to place in any society is primarily responsible for the socialization of children from birth to adulthood regardless. In the family, children develop physical skills such as walking, and intellectual skills of expression, mathematics and writing. The family is also important because it gives the child the location of the company.
