Alcohol and The Impact on Society
Alcohol is consumed in large amount of quantity but many do not think about the impact it has on society.
Every day many people drink large amounts of alcohol but many of them don’t realise the impact this has on society. True as long as alcohol is drunk in moderation the impact is not very high but sadly those that don’t drink in moderation have a huge impact on society which in my opinion should raise the question if alcohol shoundn’t be banned.
Here are some of the impacts on society
- Drunk Driving
Every day we can read in the newspaper of a drink driving accident which caused injuries and fatalities. - Anti Social Behaviour
As soon as Alcohol flows anti social behaviour is not far away. Especially on weekends when people trying to have “fun” partying in pubs, bars and clubs. In the UK usually a large number or police officers are required to maintain the peace. If you would have a look in the cells at police stations at the weekend I am sure that the majority of people were locked up due to alcohol related offences.Hospital Emergency Rooms are filled with people that either fell or got into fights because they were drunk. In the UK health services are now discussing to charge those needing treatment because of alcohol related incidences.
- Bad Health
Too much alcohol is not good for the health either. Liver problems and other issues due to alcohol are very common. These health issues can now be seen in younger and younger people
The above are only a few of the impact alcohol has on society and there are more.
