After reading this article and all the comments, I’d have to agree with Gordon that America has become the world’s scapegoat. The problem we have in perception by those who commented is the liberally biased education they have been brain washed with and that the rest are foreigners living outside the US with their tainted views. You people need to wake up. The US liberated the world twice in the 20th Century and forgave the huge debt owed to it for reparations and supplies to aid the refugees and rebuilding efforts. We have consistently aided disaster victims abroad even though many of our Christian missionaries are filled by Muslims and other radical factions. You people have a warped and unrealistic view because quite truthfully America would be better off without you and your progressive opinions. Then all of you could fight your own wars and attend to your own problems. Really just get a life.

Mnofdichotomy is a very courageous person to voice his possibly in part rather extremist views. But I prefer this to UNPATRIOTIC people mouthing their yes-man comments; they are of no use whatever to a country with their inane comments about “then you should leave your country”. No, not a bit of it. Yesmanship promotes the comment “never learning by history”; such people are the ones who should leave. It is so easy to follow the flock of sheep. I am not American, but European. Should I say everything is fine in Europe, as so many Americans do about their own country, I would then be classed as an automated moron, who is unable to work to the better of our nation. For example, have any of these morons the courage to see that you AND we should leave Vietnam I and Vietnam II? Of course not, and the youth of our nations will carry on bleeding to death on foreign battlefields, only of use to the people in high-up business places in the States who make huge finacial profits providing all sorts of military equipment. No names mentioned.

Warmongering? The war wasn’t Bush’s effort alone; if I’m not mistaken everyone in Congress approved the war as a RESPONSE to attacks made on American soil. Funny how you don’t call the attackers warmongers. Guess you think the people who attacked us were just exercising some free speech?

Simple-minded and ignorant is blaming America for something she didn’t start but has every right to finish since it was brought onto her soil. Simple-minded and ignorant is excusing everyone who is culpable just because America is the scapegoat you’d prefer to blame.

Simple-minded is implying that America doesn’t have the right to defend itself or its allies from hostile action by retaliating.

Simple-minded is going to the communities who initiated and/or supported those attacks and apologizing to them for being who we are.

Simple-minded is forgetting that American freedom was born in the fires of war. The day she isn’t willing to go to war to keep that freedom is the day she surrenders it..

And you dare speak of ignorance? You don’t know the meaning of it. Not one jot.

I see a lot of of people people shifting the blame from one country to another. If you live in a Democracy (like America) then you are equally to blame for your country’s actions because YOU chose your leader. At least in China where there is no Democracy you can only blame it’s leadership and not blame the people for voting them in.

America is getting (and always has been) to big for it’s boots and its cause of so many problems. America realises that it is losing it’s place as the world superpower with China, India, Russia and the EU catching up to them and eventually going to over take them.

Don’t forget “Democracy: Power to the People”. Your country’s leader is a representative elected by the people for the people: Americans elected Bush (Twice), would you call a warmongering, simple-minded, ignorant, toff a good representation of the American people? Some people would…

I agree with one thing and one thing only here: the ignorance has got to stop. I’d appreciate it if the author would kindly be among the first to quit spouting it.

Sure, there’s a lot of stupidity happening in America. But guess what? There’s no more of it here than in any other part of the world. You want to cast stones? Fine. You aren’t the first or the last to do so. But you tell me which of the world’s national superpowers have the cure for the stupidity you seem to think is unique to America.

What’s that sound? Oh, right. Silence. I guess America doesn’t have the monopoly on the particular brand of stupidity you decry.

Amercians can be fabulous people but take them out and put them in another country and most likely they will live up to the afformentioned “comment”. They think the world owes them for everything, that they invented everything, and they won everything!!!!

Articles as those give the rest of the world confidence about the capacity of self-evaluation fo USA people.
I am Spanish, proud to be so, like USA despite the mistakes, and I really think that if you would make a research in my country you would find more sympathy than anything else, despite the fact that everybody knows the wars, coups d’etat, etc that, want it or not, your country has fulfilled.
We see American films much more than our films, american series much more than our series, my daughters watch Disney Cannel and are fans of the kids of HSM, Hanna Montana and Jonas Brothers, just like half of the world.
What most people in the world don’t understand is how the combative American people is dancing at the ritthm imposed for multinationals that are damaging people and nature all around the world, that you allow yourselves to be pressed in a fear state so you get you gun machinery shooting in the other part of the world when muslims fanatics are a minority…well, maybe not now, after more than 10 year demonizing muslims…
