American Bully
by We have a national epidemic of bullying among our youth today. I think the phenomenon is not just prevalent with our children, but also seen in adults that should know better.
Bullying; acts of terrorism against another thought weaker than the perpetrator. Abusive, predatory imbalance of power by the more aggressive. Mental, verbal, physical and now cyber manipulation of others in a predatory need to destroy a person. I say predatory due to the perpetrator’s sick need or desire to prey, destroy or devour the subject of his/her attack directed against a person they feel is below them or weak. Usually iniated by self perceived slights, jealousy, homophobia, internal rage or just plain evil. The act in itself is cowardly, and is best served up on its victim with a crowd of equally demented followers egging the bully on, or in the secrecy of a computer or cell phone screen.
The Bully and Victims
Society has embraced a brainless practice of allowing our babes in arms to participate in sports activities that do not teach sportsmanship, and more important how to lose gracefully. The “no score, everybody wins” is a set up for failure in life lessons. The “score less” philosophy teaches children not to compete, everybody will be fair and play fair, and since nobody loses kids don’t know how to react when it happens. In real life you lose more than win, you’ll hear no more than yes, and playing fair is rare. This is dangerous for both the bully and his or her future victims. Your children are being blindsided, by the time they enter puberty to think that everyone loves them, life is but a dream, no ones in competition with them and we’re all on the same playing field.
This is the great American lie, you’re sending an unarmed (lacking survival skills) child into a minefield of peers who weren’t raised the same way as your little darling. Some come from dysfunctional homes, abusive homes, parents who rather throw money at their charges instead of disciplining them, time bombs full of hormones and rage. You’ve raised your child as the target of this knuckle dragger’s mounting rage. The victim is fed a steady diet of Disney clone movies, cocooned in your love, and propaganda that the world will love him / her as you do. Unfortunately, this is harmful, detrimental and possibly deadly for your child.
