Americans Have The Right to Own Guns

 Americans have a right to own guns. Most every person from today, to back before the formation of our country has understood that right, and probably used it. The writers of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights understood it, why can’t anti-gun protesters? When the authors of the Bill of Rights wrote the document, they thought it was necessary to include “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” as the 2nd Amendment. The reason, among others, was the authors understood the need for civilians to protect themselves and their families; and that is exactly what guns do. The fact that guns were important enough to be included in the Constitution, shows that people should think they are important today. If someone thinks the country would be safer without them in family’s homes, they aren’t taking into account the sense of security they provide. Another reason, is if someone changes a major amendment such as that, what happens next? Will the right to free speech be targeted, or the separation of church and state? Now if the 2nd Amendment says the infringement of the right to bear arms could harm the security of a free state, how could we argue that guns will harm the country? If our security of a free State is harmed, what happens to freedom? Freedom is what America is founded on, and the number one goal for people across our nation. You can not restrict the security of a free state, by denying Americans of their guns. It’s not only wrong, it is unconstitutional.
