Americans Obsession with Spending
Written in my opinion against the statement.
True or False? Americans are obsessed with spending money
As a patriotic American, I think it is generally false that Americans have an obsession with spending money. With the dragging economy and my family accumulating a baby, we definitely have learned how to stop spending money and save it for a rainy day.
Sure, there may be times that it might be fun to splurge a little when you can on things like spa treatments, manicures, and pedicures, but ultimately we have learned as a society how to cut back on unnecessary items and save money for things that are needed in order to keep a household standing.
Learning how to budget makes you a better person all-around because not only are you learning how to save for yourself, but your family also reaps the rewards of it in the long run. If you learn how to cut coupons and count spare change, your family will be able to afford those little extras along the way, like ice cream in the park or a trip to the nearest zoo.
Even with the government offering great incentives like 8,000 dollars for new home buyers this year and the newest “cash for clunkers”, we still are cautious with over-spending with our money. A lot of first-time home buyers are waiting a few more years still to see how the housing market is doing then.
With recent changes in how we all are adjusting our spending and saving, I find that most Americans are indeed getting used to this new lifestyle and it may even be fun to save for that rainy day. Who knows what the future may bring for our families, so it’s best to learn how to save now rather than spend that paycheck on meaningless items.
