America’s Problem
This is my opinion on how the leaders of our country need to know their people and how their decisions affect their lives. It also covers how we as a people need to work together to make America better.
We live in a time where money is power and without it, you are nothing. We hear about all these attempts at “reform” but who is this reform benefitting??? Those people with the deep pockets aren’t struggling lilke us “regular” people. I mean, Yes, it has to suck when your stock falls and you lose a million dollars but c’mon…most Americans may not even be able to see that much money over the course of their lifetime. So what can be done? Well, in my opinion, those individuals who are making these decisions need to get out and talk with the people they are representing. They need to see for themselves the damage these decisions are causing.
We are a people who are proud to say we are united and will help anyone in need but who is going to help us? With the foreclosure and divorce rate steadily increasing, how can Americans feel the want to help others when we can’t even help ourselves? You see single parents (not just mothers) working two and three jobs just to be able to pay the childcare so they can work these jobs, keep up with the bills and keep food on the table. Well, what happens to the children of that parent? They aren’t afforded the opportunity to be taught by their parent because their parent is virtually unavailable to them. I’m not saying that there aren’t adults today who were raised in this kind of environment and have succeeded and even exceeded what would have been expected of them but that doesn’t change the need for change. Not everyone will be given these opportunities so what do those people do?
With the lack of jobs, poor pay for those jobs that are available, how are Americans supposed to progress? We struggle daily to make a better life for our families. We want America to continue to be the best place to live in the world and thus far, America is where most immigrants want to come to live and make a life. If we don’t start improving things now, this desire to live here will diminish to the point where even American Citizens will want to live elsewhere. We have to work together as a people not allowing us to be segregated by race or color or creed and not by how much money we make. The only way America will become the amazing place everyone wants it to be will be through a collaborative effort all around the country.
