An Appeal to Common Sense
by Let it be known to all men that common sense worked, works now, and will work in the future, if applied.
Adolf Hitler had a thousand year Third Reich that lasted less than a dozen years. Many millions of people died horrible deaths for no other reason than the vain glory and mental illness of a single man, and others who followed, either to make money or think of themselves above the law.
History Repeats Itself. Now manifesting before us, comes a situation in our country, fruit borne from a tree, grown from a seed planted in 1913. Common sense would tell us that the country self-supporting before that should be self-supporting now. However, an emergency situation that was supposed to go away after World War I is still with us. Our country was told that we should be taxed to pay for a war and at the end of the war the tax would go away. Warren Newell, one of our illustrious local leaders in Palm Beach County, who in now in prison for his illustrious conduct, made a similar statement.
In a time limited issue, the Palm Beach County Gas Tax was put into place. This tax was to sunset at the end of its purpose. Mr. Newell, now in prison, told us, that “we should not turn of the spigot.” Common sense again tells us that when taxes are levied, there is no end to them. Politicians seem to have forgotten, or perhaps never knew, a wise parasite does not kill its host.
History Now Being Made. We are now confronted with the fact that in the State of California, the situation has grown so critical, that the State is bankrupt. Why did this happen? California is now considering taxing marijuana to fill the state coffers. Why must we continue on a path that history tells us that does not work?
Boston Tea Party. No taxation without representation, brought about the Boston Tea Party. It is my understanding that like minded people are throwing Tea Parties across our Nation because they feel they are being disenfranchised.
Madness or Common Sense? Doing your own thinking should bring you to conclude that these people either are mad as hatters, or they are using common sense. All I have to say, is use your common sense. I would appeal to you to use education on any issue, before trying to apply common sense. Common sense requires knowledge before application.
