Animal Cruelty and Why It Must Stop
Animal Cruelty has been around for a long time, but now the laws must be changed to protect animals and to make sure people who do abuse or kill them are punished appropriately.
This article was sparked by something i read on facebook:
At around 10.30pm Willow Tree Family Farm has been broken into. Information so far is someone has entered the farm and stolen animals. they have taken them from the farm and killed them within the village if anyone has any information please contact us the police have been informed and are appealing for help. if you have seen anything please post on this comment or contact us by email adam.hind@willowtree-farm.co.uk this is animal cruelty and when they are found prosecution will take place!
This is based in shirebrook, Nottinghamshire
I read this on the wall of a horse group I liked on facebook and it got me thinking. This may be a more extreme case, but it is Animal Cruelty and the vile scum who did this will most likely not get done for what they did to the poor animals.
What exactly does the law say when it comes down to animal cruelty? I’m not one hundred percent sure, but I do know that they are different to the laws that protect humans. Why? Humans can defend themselves most than animals can. If it came down to a court case humans can speak for themselves, animals can not stand in the witness stand and give evidence. Therefore does it not make sense that for that reason the law gives more protection to animals?
I can think of a number of cases I’ve heard of where an animal has been abused, mainly horses, and the police have done nothing purely because “It’s a case for the RSPCA”. If my dog ever got stolen and beaten to within an inch of death I know I would probably do the same to the person who done it, and I know I am not the only pet owner who feels this way.
I think it’s about time the government review their laws on animal cruelty and face up to the fact so many criminals are getting away with murder, literally, and all because “it was only a dog” or “it was only an animal”. It is truely disgusting that some one would think of hurting an animal, would they do the same to a child? To a baby? No? Then why do it to an animal. People need to remember that we ourselves are animals too. We are nothing more than hairless apes who can speak and make things using science. Remember that.
